Fish Pedicures?!?!
COME ON.. seriously, what a load of junk...
so, I was at work yesterday, down the back hall working with some snakes, and this woman comes in looking for a particular fish. I only catch bits and pieces of the conversation, but I hear my boss say "yes, I saw the same story on the internet that everyone else has, but we dont have them, nor do i think you can find them anywhere in the area"
So naturally, I was intrigued and I asked him what was going on.. apparently, a few days ago this news story started to pop up everywhere, about fish (the Garra rufa- or "doctor fish") being used for pedicures. Apparently, you stick your feet in a bucket with them and they eat the dead skin?!?!
No sooner than 5 MINUTES after my boss told me that, we got a call about them as well. It seems Everyone is looking for these things all the sudden.... I couldnt believe it, we were getting phone calls all night! it's bizzare!
When your pedicurist is a fish - International Herald Tribune
it seems like a scam to me.. maybe I'm just hard to convince when it comes to stuff like this. blaahhh.

Re: Fish Pedicures?!?!
Cool! My snakes can give you an exfoliation. They exfoliage the top layers of skin. In fact, they can get down below all the layers of skin and into the veins and arteries.

Re: Fish Pedicures?!?!
Nope, no scam. They've been using these fish for years and years and years in the middle east(I think... asia, maybe? I don't recall) in these springs where the fish are native to. For people with eczema or psoriasis these fish are a fantastic relief.
For people with no skin conditions like this, they just leave your skin feeling smooth.
It really does work, it really is very nice, and I think it's stupid how many people saw that news and suddenly decided they needed some. How many of those people could even pronounce the fish's actual name, let alone how to care for it properly?
:\
First time I heard about these fish was when I was 8 or 9 watching the discovery channel. (animal planet?) I thought they were cool then too, and for people with skin conditions, I think it's a fantastic alternative to creams, salves, pills, and all that other gobledegook.
But for everyone else........ Superfluous. Like lipstick, or gum-massaging floss. Or those razors that vibrate. Overkill.
I'd totally go for it, it'd be fun and interesting... but I wouldn't pay to get nibbled on by fish.

Re: Fish Pedicures?!?!
I also heard about that and I don't think its any kind of scam.
Heck.. I've gotten body "pedicures" from swimming in the river behind my house and the minnows nibble all over my arms and legs if I stay still.

Re: Fish Pedicures?!?!
I've got eczema on my fingers, hands and arms... and it sucks. I personally wouldn't mind seeing what those fish could do.
But all I can do is just keep using my mometasone furoate (Elocon) cream, which actually has amazing results and clears it up in as little as one day, and make it stay away for months... that is if I make it a habit of using it every day. lol

Of the almost 50 people that have called or come into our shop in the last few days- not a one.
I dunno, I suppose this might work.. but I'm still getting annoyed by everyone's sudden interest in them,. lol

America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. – John Quincy Adams (1821)
