My car was broken into this morning...grrrrr
I Woke up @ 6am this morning to go to work and found my driver-side window shattered. They picked the wrong car because my car is kept immaculate, so there was absolutely nothing for anyone to take, but everything was rummaged through. My neighbor said she heard my alarm go off @ about 4am, but didn't think anything of it.
My girlfriend's father is the Senior VP of Binswanger Glass, so I have the hook-up on auto glass (about $30 to have the window replaced). Now I have to have it tinted again...very grrrrrr.

That sucks!! My stepdad was at his friends house and someone smashed the back window of his minivan.
People are really evil sometimes.

Yeah people really stink sometimes... I just spent 7 hours putting on a convertible top on one of my cars 3 hours later someone took a razor to it. At least you are able to get it fix. Hope you have a better day.

Re: My car was broken into this morning...grrrrr
Yeah....I'm feeling a bit violated.
I just hate that alarm systems don't do anyone any good. No one cares...no one even looks up from the television. They obviously don't slow criminals down. What's the point of these things?
edit: maybe I should invest in one that has an alarm on the remote, so that I could have heard it from my bedroom. It would be worth having my glass broken to be able to catch the punk that did it.

Re: My car was broken into this morning...grrrrr
The reason no pays attention to car alarms is because they are too sensitive. I've had them go off when I parked beside another car and lightly brushed it getting out of mine. They should only go off when someone breaks the glass or tries to pick the lock, etc, etc. I hate overly sensitive car alarms!
Sorry your car got smashed though. That sucks.

Re: My car was broken into this morning...grrrrr
I'm so sorry, I feel ya right now. I drive a lifted jeep, so A) the thing stands out in the parking lot like "Look at me! I have no top and I tower above everyone like a burgal me beacon!" and B) EVERYBODY looks in it when they walk by since it has no top or doors. I've had my radio stolen 3 times I keep investing in cheap-o radios hoping they wont bother to take it, but they always do. I take the face plate with me where ever I go now, but burglars must have some kind of idiot radar. I forgot to grab my faceplate ONE time with my last radio, and walked inside a chinese restaurant to grab lunch. Came back out 30 minutes later and it was gone, and the dang jeep was parked right in front, next to a police car. I wanted to kill somebody. It was literally the first time I had forgotten to take the faceplate with me with that CD player. They always rummage around for other things...good thing the things I always have with me are of no value to criminals! If someone stole my CB I think I would cry, but its lasted for about 3-4 years now. And apparently tools are of no use to people but us jeep people. If I were to ever break into somebody's car that would be the first thing I would go for...tools cost way too much money. Ok, end rant. Sorry to hear your glass got broken I'm sympathizing with you cuz I know how crummy it is.

Re: My car was broken into this morning...grrrrr
Yup...I'm just thankful that I am financially stable and have no problems having it fixed immediately. Plus, Kelly's dad has already given her the green light to take it into one of his branch offices to have the window replaced. It will be done before I get off work.

Re: My car was broken into this morning...grrrrr
The first thing that I checked when I got to work was the weather report. If it got water-damaged, I'd freak out.

Why do bad things happen to good people?
One thing thieves are looking for these days is registration and insurance info. They use it to steal your identity. Never keep those things in your car.

Re: My car was broken into this morning...grrrrr
Sometimes I think people just like to vandalize well kept cars. I had this happen to my Cadillac several years ago.
Good luck getting it fixed up, if it is a really nice car you may want to invest in a webcam.

Re: My car was broken into this morning...grrrrr
Thanks, ya'll...I got the car back...It's wierd seeing all tinted windows except for the new one, but I have a guy coming to the parking lot of my work to re-tint all of them (darker than before) tomorrow afternoon.
The total out-of-pocket expense for the new window was $33. God, I love dating a VP's daughter. Highly recommended.
Star, I checked the glove box for the insurance card...intact. There are a few light scratches on the inside of the door from him leaning through the window and pressing the glass against it. I'm incredibly bummed about that. I just hope that it was the guy that I think it is and he now realizes that there's nothing of value in there...maybe it'll be left alone, now.
