Re: My other obsession
I'm an american muscle car gal myself, but that is pretty awesome! 125 on the ramp? Wow! How many horses are under there? Have you dyno'd it yet?
My dad's got a 67 stingray with a 502 big block, and I've got an 07 mustang GT with a paxton novi supercharger pushin over 500 hp at the fly, 410 at the rear wheels (I've still got a lot to do to it lol).

I'd love my next project car to be something German.

Nice. I had it dyno'd once awhile ago, and it's pushing 360bhp. That's not crazy, but it's a 2300 pound car stripped, so it's quite a lot of power for the weight.

I know what you mean. At this point I've made the decision to take it off the road and it will be track only, it's too fast to be responsibly on public streets.

The RB is a great motor, I wish I could have put that one in. The turbo is a GT3071. Power of a T3/T4 with the spool of a T2. It's not the one pictured above, those pics were from the original swap process.

Re: My other obsession
Yeah I have a friend in AZ with a 46 dodge doing a rb26dett swap. Making it a hot rod vehicle. It should be interesting to take a vacation out there to see it.

Re: My other obsession
sick. I have a GTI 1.8T right now that I've been toying with, and am picking up an MR2 turbo next week to start a build on. I dont expect crazy numbers with it, but it handles awesome and is pretty light so it should be a fun mid-engine, rwd toy. ya know what they say, poor man's ferrari.
oh, and my cuzz just started a new project, an 86 300zx (rwd v6 turbo for those wondering). that thing should be fun too.
oh, and next spring I wanna pick up some kind of porsche drop-top for luxury summer fun.

That sounds like a really unique project, I would kill to see some pics.

The 1.8T GTI is my daily driver. I'm down with the MR2, that would be a great car to mess with, but I don't think I'd ever put money into the GTI simply because it's FWD. It has a lot of wheel hop just on the stock turbo.

Agreed on both counts. I love those old Z's.

Haha thanks. It really does sit pretty low, I have to be careful, exhaust has some scrapes already.

Re: My other obsession
I will have to get pictures from him been a while since I talked to him... Being that I live in TX and all and left just as he got the motor and trans for it.

Re: My other obsession
yeah I am just using the gti 1.8t as a daily driver as well, I started to mod a little but soon realised its not worth putting any money into. so I put it back to stock and am getting the mr2. the mr isn't perfect either, but its a better car to mod than the VW and its more of a love affair than anything. I've always had a soft spot for them.

I am not big into horsepower but I admire anyone with the dedication to strip and paint their vehicles. I am an all show and no go kind of guy.

Re: My other obsession
Yeah I know a kid who put a lot into his GTI, it was built for a GT37 beefed up front axles etcetc and was not worth it at all in the end....GT3071 is a potent turbo, I know a couple guys who have 61's and 70's on their machs, and make great power.

I know the feeling, I feel the same way about the 240, being rear wheel drive and well-balanced. When I had just gotten it and had only done the suspension and still had the old NA motor, it was still the most fun car I've ever driven. I can't imagine how fun the MR2 is in the same vein.

There's something very zen about painting a car. I only did the interior on this one but it was still a lot of work and required a lot of patience (and sandpaper). The end result is very satisfying.

I saw a Youtube video of some guys who converted a mach 1 to rear wheel drive and dropped in a Hayabusa engine. Now that's a project I'd love to attempt.
