IIRC cape coral isn't really a far drive to the Everglades, where there is a huge Burm problem. So in order to nix the situation in the proverbial butt, they're just going to ban them. When I lived in Gainesville, about 4 hours drive north in Florida, there was talk of the state enforcing microchipping on specific species - rock pythons, retics, burms, and maybe redtails too.

Sad thing is I'm moving back to Florida soon too. I love living there, but I really don't want to have issues with my snakes either, not to mention all three of my closest friends are reptile people with rather large/expensive collections as well
If you hear anything, let me know, I'm curious to see what the state has to do and say with this, if anything. Please.

What I saw was merely a plan for a meeting to consider various items, and the cite you gave is over a year old. Additionally it expressly says on its face that it will allow wild or exotic animals pursuant to Fl. regs.
I think we need som updated facts.

REALLY. And here I thought it was something they were still trying to make a list of can and cannots.
Do you know, by chance if people can be grandfathered in, or is it anyone and everyone?
