Re: The Useless Large Thread... Part II
Remarkably irritated at this point.
I knew things were going far too well. Something stupid always befalls my reasons for optimism.
We were supposed to receive a letter from our leasing office a month or two ago asking whether or not we wished to intend to stay here another lease-term.
We never got it, and when we told them we were moving on the 1st (we've already applied and were accepted at a new place), they gave us the sheet, commented on how weird it was we never got one initially, verified in their system that no such notice was given, we filled it out, badabing-badaboom, done.
No.
Come home from work tonight and there's a notice on our door saying that our lease has been automatically renewed for another 12 months as per our signed lease agreement to notify them within 30 days of move out. We were six days late on this requirement.
If we're unable to sway them - we didn't get the freakin' letter! - then we'll be stuck here for another year at the market rent price ($630 instead of $575) and will have wasted the $150 we paid as an application fee / sure-deposit we made on our new apartment.
Pretty awesome.

Contact the manager. Advise them that it was their foul up and try to get out of it. The new place is gonna be better for you guys anyways.

I completely agree.
We've got our snakes grandfathered in on our lease agreement, there is a snake-owner among the staff that I'd like to sell some of my feeder-stock to, it's saving us a thousand a year in tuition being in a zoned county for our college, not to mention the place is freakin' sick.
For those of you that haven't seen the new place, here's a link:
Willoughby Hills Towers 27400 Chardon Road Willoughby Hills OH - cleveland.com
Ours is the unit with a guard-rail. I'm going to be jumping over that thing constantly.

It's been snowing here all day. But on a cheerier note, I went to do my taxes today thinking I'd pretty much break even. But no. I owe about $700 to Uncle Sam. Lucky me!

That's awful, Sherri...
I'm so sorry.
I've yet to do my taxes (misplaced one of my two W2s), but I'm of faint hope that I will get anything significant back.

Yeah, I just spent nearly that much on the Siamese. Something will have to give here pretty soon. I cannot keep spending my entire savings like this.
How is the job situation, Karley?

Much, much, MUCH better. Thanks for asking, Star! How are you doing, lately?
I've been eating organic, healthy foods and meals, working out and running again... About to quit smoking.
I'm all ready seeing results, and I couldn't be happier with how this is going for me.

Re: The Useless Large Thread... Part II
Well, send me a pm, Karley, and fill me in. You always do seem to land on your feet.
I'm not over my recent loss, and it will take a while, so I'm not the greatest unfortunately. But I'm giving serious consideration to a move this summer.
P.S. Congrats (in advance) on stopping smoking. As a massage therapist, I see too often what it does to skin tone and muscle tone. Especially if someone has been doing it their whole lives. Yech!

Girl, you know I'm going to school to be an oncologist.
I don't need to see you in 20 years in a hospital bed as one of my cancer patients. Quit that stuff NOW!

I had a neighbor/good friend who died of lung cancer at 58. She looked like she was 78 from a lifetime of smoking. She was so addicted that she couldn't quit smoking even through chemo. She was smoking one day with her oxygen tank and it blew up, causing 3rd degree burns on a third of her body. She died shortly thereafter. Sadly, I was not able to visit her in her final weeks because I'm allergic to cigarette smoke.
Better to quit while you're young than trying to quit after a lifetime of it.

Re: The Useless Large Thread... Part II
My day was less than excellent... got bitten by a baboon spider yesterday evening...
Ever slammed your hand in a car door? Try doing that every time your heart beats for about 3-4 hours. Then wake up the next day feeling like the previously mentioned car ran over your body in your sleep :P

I've seen one run up a pair of hemostats before. They scare me a little bit.

I will look those up. I just googled the generic name.
Got pictures of the bite? Did it swell?

We talked to the guys in Africa who collect them... sounds like my bite was mild comparatively lol. I got bitten by a small one (2.5 inches or so) and I think only one fang went in. You can google maculata bite reports and see that it sometimes causes vomiting, intense muscle cramping (I guess i have that though) and bruising of the bite area.
The bite is bruised and a little swollen but in my opinion a bit anticlimactic compared to how much pain it caused
