Re: The Useless Large Thread... Part II
Awww, my friends always stand up for me. Thanks, Dave.
Still sick. Ugh. I can't wait to start feeling better and get out of the house. I just booked a massage client for next weekend. I have already turned down 3 for this past weekend.

No problem!
You could tell your clients the coughing, odd smells and various fluids spewing from you face are a new aroma therapy??!! Put a little Vicks on your chest to heighten the effect!!

Well when I answered the phone, I'm sure she thought she was talking with Frankenstein. I can hardly talk.

RE the marriage thing. I have had so many wonderful men want to marry me in the past. I turned them down because I wasn't "in love" with them. I am now questioning what it means to be "in love" and why ordinary love and respect have not been good enough for me. We Librans can be such idealists sometimes. While we are waiting for the perfect mate, sometimes the real ones pass us by. I probably shouldn't be discussing this on a public forum where I'm opening myself up to so much negativity and judgment though. Usually, when Im sick, my defenses come down.
|
It’s the same here; it gets embarrassing having to ask someone who I am eating with NOT to order what they want at a restaurant because of that allergy, and it is even worse if someone at another table nearby orders it and I have to get up and leave or ask to be reseated. It definitely does feel isolating at times, especially if you add my sun issues on top of that. I have a few food allergies. Fish is the big one, almonds are the second biggest, peanuts, walnuts, and peaches I can have in very small doses, and milk I can have in slightly larger doses but I still can’t just drink a whole glass without getting sick.
I understand that; it can definitely be hard to find someone who you truly ‘click’ with, for lack of a better term. As far as the nay-sayers go; the way I figure it neither I nor anyone else has any right to dictate what goes on in another person’s life unless their choices are directly encroaching on them personally. What may be right for you may not be right for me, and visa versa. For that reason, I highly encourage you to take into account what other people are saying, consider if it is good advice for you as an individual, and if it isn’t, willfully ignore it.
Don’t worry about your defenses being down when you’re sick, it is better than my tendency to develop REALLY bad tastes in music and movies (which I inexplicably purchase and sorely regret it later) when I am feeling under the weather. The sad part is I am actually serious.
In other news; I just got a phone call from my roommate. As a refresher, she has been in Santa Cruz for the past almost two weeks and I have been dog-sitting her Miniature Schnauzer. She is bringing home a purebred Silky Terrier that she just rescued. She is SO not allowed to complain if I bring anything back from the reptile show or from my trip to Canada in a few months.

In closing, said tataricus is $79.99.

That is wonderful; thank you so much for getting that information for me! I would love to see more pictures if it wouldn't be too much trouble. Do they have an e-mail address perchance? What I’ll very likely do is wait until the end of next month (which is both just after my local reptile show, and when it stops being over 100 degrees every day in my area) and see if they still have him available.

I can imagine how this could feel isolating. I am sure the people who care about you find it no problem to make the minor adjustments for you. Everyone has their own quirks, whether they be health/food related or otherwise, and quality people are worth making the extra effort for. I have a friend who is allergic to fragrances. So when I visit her I use all of her fragrance-free shampoos and lotions. I feel the need to warn you to be very careful in Chinese restaurants if you even eat at them. A friend of mine ordered a dish that was supposed to have no peanut oil in it. But apparently, there was some, and she died from a peanut allergy. I am not saying this to alarm you, and I'm sure you are more than aware of these dangers already.
Re the other, I appreciate your support. My intention was not to seek advice from random forum members, but rather just to share what was going through my mind at that time. The ULT has become such a comfortable place with people I have grown to know and trust. I sometimes forget that the little coccoon of safety can sometimes be pierced by people dropping in with whom I wouldn't normally share personal information. So I am thankful for the reminder to be careful what I say. As a general rule, I only seek advice from select people whose opinions I trust in personal matters. However, for the most part, I've been able to share freely here without a lot of judgment and criticism, which never feels good.
LOL sounds like your home is turning into a zoo! I hope to see pictures of the silky terrier. They are so adorable! Are you warming up to the schnauzer? I have a funny schnauzer story, for a later post maybe.

When you put information on a public forum, it is subject to comment. But I think there is more going on here. I think for some reason you were a bit sensitive about some comments made, even though sometimes another point of view is actually food for thought.
Star, you previously emailed me privately and at great length with many details about your 'friendship' that went wrong on this board; and sought out and accepted what I had to say at that time. I voiced my opinion then and I do so now.
Here's an excellent piece of advice from M2788, above 'For that reason, I highly encourage you to take into account what other people are saying, consider if it is good advice for you as an individual, and if it isn’t, willfully ignore it. '

Re: The Useless Large Thread... Part II
Hmm; someone on here seems to have issues.
As far as the Chinese food goes, I learned that lesson the hard way. Same with Thai food. Usually I avoid that by only ordering certain dishes, and asking what it is cooked in.
The Schnauzer and I get along very well as a general rule, however he can be a little brat to everyone besides me. Funny Schnauzer story? I am all curious now.
Here is a picture of the new Silky. He is several pounds underweight and has apparently had a very hard time the past few months.
He’s a cute little guy; hopefully he and Buddy, the Schnauzer will hit it off. I was teasing my roommate by reminding her that I was supposed to be the one getting the new dog.

Ah, apartment hunting...
I managed to find a place that possibly might be worth living at, but need to pay stuff off before I feel comfortable moving.
It's a nice 2 bedroom. One for me, one for Magni and his fweinds.

I hate apartment hunting, it took me exactly 2 days to find the place I'm at. I always settle for the first place that isn't too expensive and won't kill me.

I have a dog over 60 pounds and 2 cats, so it's harder. I want a place with 2 beds that will let me have an office/reptile room, and not overdo myself. I'd also like a washer/dryer if possible.
The only problem is the dog, not the snakes or cats or the pricing, or any of that. Most of them won't let me have a dog under 25 pounds.

Oh that's right! I had completely forgotten about your dog. D'oh.
Yeah I can see where that would be a problem.

Yeah, for one she's a "dangerous" breed (a husky ) and she is 62 pounds.
However, she is older, and would really just love to sun herself on a porch all day and go for a walk when we get home. There are a lot of breed restrictions around here.
Most of them don't mind when I tell them I have/plan on having large snakes. Go fig.
