Re: The Useless Large Thread... Part II
It was too hot for me today, didn't do much. Ended up eating crab and crawfish for dinner, and watched some movies with the gf.

Re: The Useless Large Thread... Part II
I stayed home alone, took the boa out on the porch to watch some of the fireworks a couple hours ago. Sounds like folks are firing up even more just now. I live in a unique town that sells fireworks to the entire tri-state area, most of which are completely illegal, but it's completely un-enforced. People come from hundreds of miles around to this town to buy up their stashes. Major-big fireworks EVERYWHERE.

It's what, 10:39 or so for you, MT time? Yeah still early. It's almost 1AM here, and I'm still hearing some good booms.

You stayed in Iceland? You must have done some nice traveling in your military days.
My ex-coworker lived in Alaska for many years and said that in the summer the sun basically dipped just below the horizon only to rise again a couple of hours later.

Re: The Useless Large Thread... Part II
Yeah I did about a hundred-twenty days or so there back in 2002. It was very cool place. In summer, the sun would kinda set (but not totally, you could still see a sliver) around 1AM or so, but be back up by 3AM. It's kind of a seasonally manic-depressive country as a result...people out and about all the time in summer. When I arrived there in February, still during dark, blizzard winter, it was a ghost-nation. Pretty neat.

Does Iceland have the 30 days of night or whatever it is during the winter?

Yes, almost complete darkness for Dec-Jan, but almost complete lightness from June-July... It's a polar country.

Re: The Useless Large Thread... Part II
All the booms sound like it is thundering outside. We need more rain here. If we don't get some good rain this month, I'm sure we will have some fires going by August.
