Star, call the police, and report what happened -- both the banging on the door at 2am and the nasty note the next day. Write it down the day and time that you reported it. If you need to give them the letter, keep a copy, and have them sign the copy stating that they have the original, - signed date, time, and signature. Always get a report # for each time you contact them, and get a copy of the report if possible. It is very important that you do this, so that if things escalate (ie a break-in, or the exterior of your condo vandalized, etc.), you have record that this problem started on such and such a date, at that specific time, and you will have a better chance of having resolution, both with the law enforcement, and with your insurance. If you don't report anything, something happens, and you bring it up that other things have happened already, that will lessen your chances of justice, because you didn't report the things leading up to the eventual problem. I hope that nothing comes of this, but you need to CYA just in case. Failing to report a crime (or the threat of a crime, or something that makes you think the might be a crime eventually) can lead to problems for you in the long run.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with your neighbors, unless you are good friends with them, because if you are not, they may contribute to it just to be mean.
