Crime

Here's a poll about crime and consequences. I have some strong feelings about criminals, that they should not be coddled and that they deserve what they get if they harm others.
By the same token, I believe it is worth the extra time that is sometimes taken during a trial to make sure that the right person is nabbed and that the innocent are not convicted.

Re: Crime

I believe it is too individual to lump together. The justice system will never be perfect, so we have to deal with what we have. I find many injustices and problems with the system, so I am getting involved instead of just shaking my head at them. These are interesting though:

Re: Crime

If someone is directly hurt, whether violent crime or corporate crime, they should go to prison where they should have to work it off.

Non-victim crimes should have a heavy fine at the max.

Re: Crime

I always thought that the death penelty isnt cruel, its the easy way out, I say make them work for the rest of their lives in prison along with bolted pictures of the person they killed and that persons family, unless they do someething in prison such as an assult then give them the DP.

Same with animal abusers and child/spouse abusers sort of. Keep them in a small room (smaller than the normal cell) and bolt pictures of the animal/child/spouse they abused.

Tough call. Specifics come into play and it's not always black and white.

Re: Crime

On another website I had a chance to talk to a criminal psychiatrist who worked with the criminally insane (with very low IQ levels). She said to get them to stop throwing their desk and to raise their hands (to get her attention), she reworded them with M&Ms. Possibly the most heartbreaking thing I have ever heard. I still get sad thinking their are people locked up who will be calm for the reward of an M&M perhaps we need to rethink medication and focus on how we interact with each other.
