This has been on the news around here more often lately. There was a news article on an Everglades officer who has been monitoring Burms and other pythons in the everglades. They are starting to see more diverse sizes, coming to the conclusion that they might be breeding in measurable quantities and they are not just releases around.
This was only a few weeks ago. Now this, where they make reference to the previous note.
It was noted that the only animal they expect to go after the snakes once they reach 5 feet+ would be the alligators.
Q) Seems the snake wrapped around the smaller alligator several times but was unable to hurt him. Is the alligator more bulky/strong and thus harder to squeeze? I was thinking about it and it would seem the squeeze would work better against mamals, vs other reptiles... just speculation.

Anacondas are known to frequently eat Iggys and Caimens.
Perhaps the Burm was laserated or badly injured and could not get a good hold or something,

Even of comparable size, it isn't really fair to compare anacondas and most boas for that matter to pythons...Pound for pound, boas/anacondas are MUCH stronger and constrict much tighter.

hey slap? I'd love to see some pics of this? I just love seeing crocs vs. snakes pics. Everyone sees crocs/gators as such strong beasts, but think about the strength of a snake? Just pure amazing!!!! Great pic bigred....

I heard about this on the news a few days ago here in North Carolina. The captioning was choppy due to it being a live broadcast. So, I didn't get the full story. But, I guess you don't need much more than words like 'Everglades' and then a picture of a python wrapped around a gator. Simply amazing!

They only had one pic on the newspaper, and it was so bad (black and white) I thought it was the picture of the wake of a boat...
After a while I realized it was an aligator swiming towards "you" (the reader) and all you could see was the head of the python by the side of his mouth.
I would imagine scaning that or posting it would be a copyright no-no, plus the picture really sucks.

Jules lets all of his snake constrict him so he can measure their relative strength.

Get yourself an 8ft Boa and an 8ft Burm, handle them both for 20 minutes and you will notice a huge difference in muscle mass.
