Scovilles

Scovilles are a measure of piquancy/heat in chili peppers. And there are a TON of Scovilles in my garden right now.
This year I bought one of those 'mixed selections' of hot peppers seeds on Ebay because I didn't have room for a whole packets of seeds of a bunch of different kinds.
Each came with a label. Which was unfortunately not rain proof so after a couple of rains I did not know what variety was what.
Today I thought it would be nice to have sausage/onions/peppers for dinner. I went out and got some sweet 1015 onions out of the garden. Then, I got a bowl and started harvesting different kinds of peppers, got a total of about 20. Some were green, some red, some purple.
On the way in, I thought I'd give them a taste so I bit into a long, very dark green one. I don't know the name but I had not grown it before. It was not a cayenne.

Holy cow. Hot is not even the word. Searing. Nuclear. At least twenty nine zillion Scovilles.

Dinner should be interesting.

Re: Scovilles

I had a buddy give me a couple partial packets of peppers (say that one fast) yesterday. I am excited to plant them.

Re: Scovilles

All my little "hotties" are doing great! Scotch Bonnets, serranos, pablanos. jalapenos and cayennes. Got some bells going too. I can't wait for the tomatillos to bear.

Re: Scovilles

I really like growing peppers - it's very rewarding to watch them flourish and best of all - they don't attract bees.

I don't like eating them though. :\ Even bell peppers. I just despise the taste of them. But man are they ever fun to grow.

Keep us posted on how dinner goes. XD

Re: Scovilles

I love peppers!
I eat hot peppers just plan (habs, jalaps, etc.); My neighbor grows some from Thailand that are dark green and long.....I can eat them plain, but only if I have a towel to catch all the fluids coming out of my eyes and nose. lol They are smoken'.
