What my oldest son Found
I don't think I have it in the right forum . So if needed to be moved go ahead and sorry . Thought I would share some pics of this lizard that my son found . Not for sure what kind it is . He wants to keep him/her but I do not know how good of an ideal it would be . But I hope you all enjoy and if you can give me any advise I would be glad to take it on what kind it is and if we should let it go or if it would be ok to keep it . Thanks
Sorry the picture quality is not the best . I hope you can tell .

Re: What my oldest son Found
Looks like a Fence Lizard. He's some info I dug up...
3.5"-7", a small stocky lizard, gray to brown colored with a dark band along the rear of the thigh in some specimens. Males usually have black-boardered blue patches on the belly and a blue throat patch. Found throughout much of the southern and western U.S., this lizard is primarily arboreal, climbing and living on trees and similar structures, and lives in generally sunny locations. Carnivorous, mostly insects.
Let me know what you think! You've got a better look at him than I do!

Re: What my oldest son Found
Do a little more research on them. Obviously check out what they need to have to survive and be comfortable. Check and see if the fence lizard hibernates and when it does. It may cause problems for him if he's in a tank. Then again it may be a simple fix. Just make sure you do your research.

Re: What my oldest son Found
Not to start any waves, but I'd release it where it was originally caught. Looks like he was in a well populated prey area.

I'd let him go unless you have some experience keeping WC lizards.

Re: What my oldest son Found
I think I'd probably release him too. You can always tell the kiddo that the little guy misses his family and wants to go back to them, to make it a bit easier for him.

I think I am going to do that . They are at their grandmas were he caught him at . I think I might take him to the woods around our house and release him there . We have them around here just not as fat . Up there is nothing but woods and all that stuff . I could just tell him that he got loose . Since they aren't here . I really don't want to do any harm to the little fellow .

Re: What my oldest son Found
yea i think its prob best to release him too if you son really wants a pet lizard, i would look around for a captive bred one, maybe a beardie, that little lizard your son caught reminds me of a dragon

Re: What my oldest son Found
'round here, we call those Fence Swifts or just Swifts. And you are doing right by releasing it. They don't make the best captives.

Re: What my oldest son Found
Wow, you must have a very quick son. I saw a few of those in a park once and they can disappear in a mere second! They run like lightning into little holes and right up verticle objects.
