Just wondered what everyone thought of this(story on home page). I for one am glad to see it, because wile I know there are some good petstores, there a a lot of bad ones, where the folks working in the reptile dept. have to look at the tag on the cage to even know what kind of snake you are asking about. I think this should be in effect for every pet store in every state.
Quick example: I went into a pet store, and asked to see the pythons they had available, didn't specify which kind. The kid comes back with a 2.5 - 3 ft retic, and says "This is a nice LITTLE python". The whole time he's trying to sell me this snake, he never once told me how big it would get, how much it would eat, how big a place it would need to live in, how expensive to feed, NOTHING. Nor did he ask me if I knew anything about it, and never called it a retic. They just wanted the $125 they had on the snake.
I proceeded at that point to ask him if HE knew how big it would get, how much it would cost to feed, house, etc...........and he proceeded to stop wanting to help me.
Point is, anyone with $125 could have walked out of there with a snake that they were told NOTHING about, and there would probably have been another snake end up in rescue, if it was lucky, dumped out or starved to death if it was not.
Just my thoughts on the new law.
