Nothing so dramatic. I remember more about while it was coiled than how it got there. So I am not really sure how it happened exactly. The first thing that I clearly remember is me holding her head and her coils around my stomach and waist just below my diaphragm. As soon as the first coil went around I started pushing the coils down (with he head still in my hands). The snake was trying to adjust so i kept downward pressure. By the time it got the last coil where it wanted it to give the Big Squeeze, I had it below center mass around my hips and legs. Of course, that all took place in probably 5-7 seconds. In my experience, boids throw coils and after two or three are situated securely, then they give the Big Squeeze and start applying real pressure. Granted if I had been shirtless (just a bad idea around animals in general), there would have been friction that may have prevented pushing it down. From there, just unwind it from the head down. What I did was actually once I got a couple feet free, I put a stool between us so as i unwrapped a bit, she started wrapping the stool. Once a coil was around the stool, she thought that was my leg and changed her plan. That poor stool never knew what hit it So nothing too dramatic, it is just a matter of knowing how to work with large boids. If an anaconda is wrapped around your neck, you did something REALLY wrong.

i have to completely agree with you here. ive been in MMA since i was very young. i would much rather have a gracie choking me out than a 6 foot snake. i personally have never followed the 6 foot rule with my RTB's. all my burms and other pythons and boas i have. just not my red tails. only reason why is b/c the biggest one ive ever had was 7 foot and i didnt think the extra foot made that much difference. but the fact is a 6-7 foot 30-40 lb snake is ALOT strong than 6 foot 200lb person. once my BCI reaches the 6 foot mark i will follow the rule b/c my wife is always home when i am. the times she isnt. he wont come out.

Boafanatic always a pleasure to meet another martial artist.

BW that is not common constrictor knowledge. I have never heard of a person escaping a constrictor with a trusty stool. So thank you for sharing hopefully we all will think about this should it ever happen to us.

ya the true martial artist's are hard to find. ive had plenty of people tell me they are black belts in this and that and when i ask em to spar they usually make an excuse or just swing for the fences like its an all out brawl, and have no skill.

as for the stool trick i think i may have to stick one in the reptile room just in case.

Really! Many average people do think small snakes can be dangerous! .. read about it in your paper, online or at your next city council meeting.. Most experienced people don't think small snakes are dangerous, that's certainly true.. 6' boas are not dangerous. Or at least they are not on any legitimate list of dangerous pets or wildlife. States that have recently passed laws prohibiting or regulating dangerous snakes like the big pythons have specifically excluded the Boa constrictors.. you want to undo that?
.
Also... I often see weight figures of 30 or more pounds attributed to people's six foot boas (on this thread also).. to me this is preposterous! But I'm open to new info.. please show photos and proof of 30 pound six foot boas. My two-meter boas are 10-15 pounds!
.
I'm not arguing about any plan or rule or idea that makes our hobby safer.. I completely disagree that six-foot boas are any threat to the average adult who practices no stunts with their pet.
.
That's it!
