Then I suggest you remove the snake. How is it that sticking your head in and neck in an enclosure seems remotely like a good idea? Or worth the risk for that matter.
How is it a person who strictly follows the 6 foot rule thinks that is a good idea?

Again I have never been put in these threatening situations, and the 2 person rule is just a "safety belt" should I need them.
Here is a picture of the cage the snake keeper of 20+ years was constricted in.

And here is the other cage where the other keeper was constricted in:
Why either of them did not remove the snake first is a mystery to me, if you want I can ask them. I guess experience does not mean mistakes won't happen.

No. Complacency, not using your grey matter, sticking your mellon in an enclosure, willing to take risks.....these lead to mistakes. It doesn't matter how much time someone has with constrictors. If they do stupid stuff, they will get burned. Some people never get it. Sad but true.
I admit I'm really peeved that you, a proponent of safety would give this justification for sticking your head in an enclosure: "hard to do when the enclosure is this deep".
Even if you don't get wrapped...your willing to risk a bite in the face?

the fact of the matter is it is people like you that either think they are tough strong bad son of a guns or w/e it is that makes you think you can overpoer a large snake or think that it can never happen to them b/c they are "cautious" and that nothing can hurt them, and are to blind to see that know matter how competent or careful you are the unexpected can always happen (thats why it is unexpected) give this hobby a bad name. it also people that take ignorant unneeded risk and get killed or hurt that get our hobby on the front page of newspapers all over this country. i have nothing against you, and you have always had good advice when people need it, but its opinions and actions like that make the rest of the hobbiest that do things right and take the proper precautions suffer. unless you can read the animals minds, which last time i checked nobody can you put yourself and our hobby in danger everytime you handle a large snake by yourself.

So you recommend pulling the reptile out of the cage every time I have to clean something? I can't think of a single keeper that does this with large cages, but I will pass on the message you feel these 2 long time keepers I know are idiots.

you say that no matter how long you work with constictors if you do stupid stuff you will get burned? so isnt that the exact samething as thinking you can handle a large constrictor by yourself? thats kind of a contrdictary statement. unless im missing something.
