That is a great point!! You see that all the time. Each store, rodent breeder/supplier has its own definition of what size is what. Great point!!

Just as a comparison between sizes at rodentpro.com and big cheese rodent factory, what big cheese calls Jumbo Rat, according to size charts, is a X large to a XX Large Rat at Rodentpro.com.

Yep, Big Cheese Jumbos fall between Rodent Pro"s XL-XXL. Rodent Pro is cheaper per rat, but the shipping makes it $25-30 more for me. I ordered from Rodent Pro once and the box was much bigger (Especially for the 20 small rats I ordered, I could have fit in that box!) than the one Big cheese has used.

Did you mark Greyhound Express or UPS? I use Greyhound Express and filled the entire box to maximize what I get for the $75 shipping charge and it came out to be $3.29 shipped per XX Large Rat, the equivalent to Big Cheese's Jumbo Rats. I am in Northern Utah, so not that much further.

Re: Rodent Pro
I ordered from Rodent pro once.. the product was not up to my expectations.
.
This I will add about shipping charges.. almost certainly a business like Rodent Pro is not payng per-pound or per-box what you and I are paying. The carriers' salespeople work out (hidden and perhaps illegal) discounts with volume shippers by fudging the dimensional charges, fiddling with the weights and who-knows-what.
.
Have fun.

Re: Rodent Pro
Heck I'm in the process of raising my own rats.
That way I will always have enough.
But yes can't see spending that much on shipping.

Nearest Greyhound (Green River) is about a 90 mile round trip for me so it doesn't really help. I only have 1 Boa to feed so filling up the box is kinda out of the question too.

Same here, my first ever frozen rodent order. Besides the huge box (which I'm sure drove the shipping through the roof!), the rats were stuffed into ziplock bags that were full of holes, some were missing extremities and they were a lot lower quality than the ones I get from Big Cheese.

If you fill your box it works out to a good price.

Re: Rodent Pro
I'll tell you one thing, if you only have a small order and get it from Rodent Pro, You'll have enough fiberglass insulation to insulate a reptile barn!
