So far as the permits go, they're only about 20 bucks (to own one, anyway) and you can get them any place that sells fishing licenses. Walmart, Academy, ect.

For the Houston, Texas people..

Houston city ordinance prohibits the possession of, or trade in and even the transport of any snake over eight feet in length or capable of growing to over eight feet in length. Any genus, any species.. period. $2000.00 per animal per day fines.

Not that pet stores really abide by that rule...I see burms and retics for sale all the time. My friend even adopted a 8 foot burm from the Houston SPCA not long ago. Note that I am NOT encouraging breaking any laws...just saying that they seem rather haphazard in their enforcement.

well i guess im going to get a permit then. but there is a guy on this site (in the classifeds enyway) that is selling 2 retics. ive tryed cantacting him but i never get a response.

There are a lot of breeders on this site of beautiful retics. I would just look around and see what I could find. Either that or find a rescue.

I know here that you need a permit to keep annies, afrocks and retics.....but not burms! Makes no sense to me.
