Now i'm wondering if he was a cotton mouth. I didnt see inside his mouth though. The entire underside was brown and darkbrown. The Auodobon book shows several different patterns of copperheads, and I found one like this one at the same house 2 years ago, but it was lighter. The photo of the cottonmouth does look like it too though. I'll try to get those photos on. |

I guess I thought cottonmouths were all dark, almost black, with a light belly. I knew they have a pattern like that though. So, I let the little guy out down the road in the woods at the riverbank. He was very cute, and mellow,. but it was kinda cool out that morning. |
