This past weekend, i have done that which had previously seemed impossible.
My fiancé, Shannon, handled my snake.
Get your mind out of the gutter, Morti, you know i'm talking about my redtail boa.
When Shannon and i met a little over two years ago, she was about a hair's breadth from being a full-fledged ophidiophobe. If Morti got one of his boas out, she fled the room. Heck, she didn't even like sitting where she could see them in their enclosures, and was constantly tense when visiting.
Then i moved in with Morti, and got a boa of my own from him (from his first successful mating project). This did not please Shan. Shan swore that i'd never get her to like him (my boa, not Morti).
Saturday, Shan held Anton for the first time. She was a little nervous at first, but later admitted that it was "really pretty cool". She's also agreed to reserve judgement on me keeping him when we get married until she sees how big he'll get (he's only a yearling now). Given that she'll be "growing up with him", as the saying goes, i'm sure it won't be a problem.
One small step for Shan, one giant leap for snakekind.

Most people can and will get over thier fears. They just need to see that everything they have ever heard is not so. It takes work and understanding to get them to change.
Way to go storm. Now get a pic so you'll have it on record. And so we all can see it also.

Woohoo! That's great news. I dated a guy for 3 yrs, he wouldn't even go in the rooms the snakes were in. Then he wanted to get married, but said snakes had to go. Snakes are still HERE.........lmao
Good luck, and any little step IS progress

I remember Shan cowering in the corner of the room (litteraly) whenever I was there and we would get out the boas. I think that it is a testement to your patience that she is starting to come around Sam. Good for you...and good for her! Sometimes when we keep an open mind, we find that things we really didin't like, care for, are really great.

Woohoo, sounds like a success story in the making!
Keep up the good work, stay patient, and if that does not work, trade her in for another model

That's outrageous! That's it...she's probably "hooked" now! She's going to want one of her own in the near future and offer to help and clean some cages......etc...
