The State of RTB
Ladies and gentlemen:
This is the TOS of Redtailboa.net:
http://www.redtailboa.net/forums/jus...s-service.html
This is a specific clarification about what is and is not profanity:
Profanity Rule Clarification.
We staff members have been tasked with maintaining order in the forums and the guide we have been given is the TOS. That is the yard-stick by which we must measure if anything is acceptable or unacceptable.
Recently many of you have expressed displeasure with some of the rules and/or how they are being enforced. Let me ad a few more points of clarification:
* We will not let a thread get out of hand when it comes to its negative impact on RTB as a community. A few of you got to experience this one last night. If we feel that nothing positive will be gained from a thread, it is going to be locked or closed. The mods and admins acted properly in those situations.
* Public criticism of our staff is not acceptable. Many of you seem to have issues with our staff. That's fine. Take it up with me or another admin. The admins are BWSmith, Toker, Telefrag, Natas, and myself. We can discuss these concerns with you. What we don't want is for our members to be smearing ANY member of the staff publicly. That is not OK.
* Giving infractions is not fun. It is not something that we enjoy doing. No one is being singled out for infractions... ever. We don't allow stalking of specific individuals by members of our staff. If you feel this is happening to you, tell me. If you feel I am stalking you for some reason, tell one of the other admins. Simply put - We don't do it... and if we feel like it is going on, it will go very hard on the staff member doing it.
RTB is a great community. It is a fun place where everyone can come to learn about reptiles. Please help us keep it that fun place. Here's how you can help:
1) Follow the TOS.
2) If you do get a warning or an infraction, take it as constructive criticism... It's just us asking you to help us keep this a good place to be
3) If you see something going on that shouldn't, ask a staff member. If the one you ask doesn't take you seriously, ask another. You may not get the answer you want, but you will get an answer.
4) Chill out on the staff. This is not a paid position and it can be a hard job. Cut us some slack.
Please try to enjoy your stay at RTB and let me know your comments.

Re: The State of RTB
Thanks Morti.
I appreciate the TOS, the mods, and admins for making & keeping this site a family friendly environment, where I can let my kids poke around as they grow into little herpers without worrying about them stumbling across language and themes that aren't age appropriate.
Kudos to the staff and the community for making this a great site for info and community. Some sites are long on info, but short on community. Others are just the opposite. This site has a great balance.

Re: The State of RTB
What, is RTB trying to become the 51st state? I'll support that.

Stargazer for Gov.!
I can see the political parties and issues now....
The Talking To Snake Cacus will be meeting on Thursday...
The non-live feeders will be demonstrating at the capitol at the end of the month...
Due to population size, members of the "For Stargazer" thread get to send an extra representative to the voting...
There will be a push to have Co-Habbing, other than mating, to be outlawed and there will be an outcry of how the government doesn't have a right to come into the hides and tell our snakes how they must live their lives...
The issues would just be too boggling.... so on second thought, I ask you to vote no on the statehood of RTB. Let's remain a free and open society!!!

Re: The State of RTB
My question is--and has always been about--consistency. For instance, I think the statement "you can't say something bugs bunny wouldn't say" is open to interpretation. A lot of what is said on this forum would never come out of bugs bunny's mouth. In fact, he didn't say much besides "what's up doc". He certainly never talked about snake porn, calling people sexy, making innuendos, etc... I don't think it bothers anyone. Yet it goes on all the time here. But some people seem to get targeted and not others for innocent comments, all because some mod thought bugs bunny wouldn't say it. It could be the same word that the mod has used himself!
The TOS also says something about people being allowed to make comments that are on topic. But it doesn't say that you cannot make off-topic comments. So how do you know when an off topic comment is okay or not?
I hope one of these days the mods will get together and clarify some of the things said in the TOS so they are more concrete and not left open to interpretation. It has been really confusing to me who has gone along for over a year being a certain way and then out of the blue, being told something I've always done--and everyone else does--is inappropriate! Werry Werry confusing.
