African Rock Python's meal

I recently found this picture that was allegedly taken in the '80 by tourist who was travelling in south africa, when he suddenly saw a python swallowing a local guy...
He called the police and they found that a man from the nearby village was really missing.
I know that ARP attacks are very rare, but I think the bigger ones can cope with small humans (and children of cuorse).
Here's the picture.

Hi.

Most of these sorts of pics are fakes. I am not familiar with that one in particular however.

I can imagine the headline in the newspaper:
"Giant python swallows a bus full of schoolboys - The experts say it could swallow an elephant" - and a picture of a ball python below.

Re: African Rock Python's meal

I think you can Google the word "python" and and find that. Very insightful.

Re: African Rock Python's meal

i wouldnt doubt it...there are alot of incidents that go unreported. I believe it was mrcota that lives in thailand and said every once in a while a person is eaten by a retic. They also say that Afrocks have been known to eat the largest prey in relation to their body size, so I wouldnt doubt it. Morti is right though, alot of the pics are fake, I havent seen this one in particular before

Re: African Rock Python's meal

A trusted friend of mine spent two years in very remote Africa. He woke up one morning and the people in the village were gathering to track down a large python that came in the village and ate a goat in the middle of the night. They tracked the snake down and killed it to get the goat back. He told me they butchered the goat for dinner but wouldn't eat the snake.
He also said twice while he was in Africa a nearby village had reported a death due to an Afrock. He couldn't confirm the "swallowed" part.
