Re: If, God-forbid...
I would probably get 2 more or so and then follow the ban to a Tee. I don't want to deal with any law enforcement ever again.

Re: If, God-forbid...
so its just a ban against shipping?
Most of us are within driving distance of a good breader. say, for example, that I decide i want a nice suri, ok maybe texas is a little far for me but dank is in philly or something like that, which is a little far but not too bad. of course Im sure I dont even need to go that far to get a suri. just sayin I dont think its any big deal if its against shipping only and not against ownership.
also, would the grandfather clause affect any of this?

Re: If, God-forbid...
Grandfather clause does not apply... the Lacey act controls crossing state lines with animals, so if you already have they snakes, they are still yours... you just can't get any more from out of state.

I had an adventure once.
A guy way up in the northeast somewhere that I didn't even know shipped a box full of really high dollar boas through UPS in the dead of winter to a guy in the southeast because he never had a problem before an no one would ever know.
Well, for whatever reason, they decided to open that box... The boas became Haz-Mat. Through a friend of a friend, he got in touch with me. I camped out at the UPS Air Hub all night while they tried to find this box and I could then ship it back to him legally. The good news is, they ended up holding the box at his UPS facility in the far North East even though the scan showed that it was here in Louisville.
How will they know? By accident... but in this situation, that accident would lead to jail time if boas were on the Lacey act.

Re: If, God-forbid...
is this in canada too? if so it would suck, and if not it would still suck. Sure we can ship animals in canada, but we dont have near the ammount of reputable breeders, At the reptile store i work at only maybe 25% comes from canada, the rest is US, and occasionally country of origin. So if this happens, we will not be able to get from the US, and will be forced to get country of origin. This will basically set the hobby back, because instead of having access to good CBB animals, we will have to get an imported animal. There for we will be going basically "back in time" and everyone will have wildcaught stuff. The reptile market in canada does not produce near what the US does, and most reptile stores and breeders get their stock from the US
