Figures my typo was caught by the queen of typos. . I meant "Lori, I was told..." He just told be that real dark red spots on the gums usually indicates the snake has an RI. The was my monitor is set up maybe, the pic you posted of the snake eating the rat, has some dark red blotches on the inside of the gum line. Maybe this is just how the pic turned out. Wasn't implying yours had an Ri just double checking if that was correct. When I took my Suri in for wheezing the vet checked his mouth and he had a few little dark red spots on his gum line and he did have a slight RI.

Eddie, I was actually told this by a guy that worked at Serpent Safari something very similar. This is the same Serpent Safari, if you remember the Discovery show where the owner was nearly killed by his 22' Retic.
The employee was holding a 6' Argentine Boa and my son (5 at the time)wanted to pet it. So I asked him if it was ok and how was his temperment(knowingt some Argies can be fiesty) He replies "Oh he's fine, plus they dont have any teath because they are a constrictor) I just laughed at him and asked if he was serious. He actually was serious. I told him they infact had nice sized teeth. He disagreed and said I should research that. I told him I don't need to and asked if he wanted me to prove him wrong. So I took the sname and got him to open his mouth, took the employee's pen and nudged the snakes gums a little to expose the teeth and showed him. He stood there with his mouth open a bit. He obviously was told this because he was afraid of snakes, because he went and quickly returned the snake to its cage. Just goes to show you. Never assume anyone at a pet store has a clue about what they sell.

BTW. Ed. It's actually a grammatical error, not a typo from what i can see that you did. Different "wording' would be the thing, not a wrong hit key hehe As in a typo.
ANYWAYS....

Maybe your refering to red "Spots" possibly being in the mouth. That snake in the pic actually has areas and not spots that are a higher/more in depth coloring than the rest of the mouth. I dunno anayways what you are refering to that your vet said. Like I said though; I'll take a close look tonite in the mouth of a snake with RI and grab some pics if I can also of it. Maybe i'll see what it is your talking about then is all hopefully.
