Boa and Python Ban
Not sure if this information has been posted yet, but here is a copy of the mass email I put together. It equates to a ban on all shipping of boas and pythons.
---------------------------------------------------
USFW are looking at essentially banning all snakes of the genus Boa, Python, and Eunectes. They want to ban the interstate commerce of these animals which means that you can’t ship them out of state. They will issue permits only for government, educational, etc. This would be the most significant blow to the hobby and industry to date. Please take the time to actually read this information and comment. They will only accept comments until April 30th. THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT EMAILS. Instructions below.
Straight from the Feds:

Re: Boa and Python Ban
These are the specific questions that they want answered:
(1) What regulations does your State
have pertaining to the use, transport, or
production of Python, Boa and Eunectes
genera?
(2) How many species in the Python,
Boa and Eunectes genera are currently
in production for wholesale or retail
sale, and in how many and which
States?
(3) How many businesses sell Python,
Boa or Eunectes species?
(4) How many businesses breed
Python, Boa or Eunectes species?
(5) What are the annual sales for
Python, Boa or Eunectes species?
(6) Please provide the number of
Python, Boa or Eunectes species, if any,
permitted within each State.
(7) What would it cost to eradicate
Python, Boa or Eunectes individuals or
populations, or similar species, if
found?
(8 ) What are the costs of
implementing propagation, recovery,
and restoration programs for native
species that are affected by Python, Boa
or Eunectes species, or similar snake
species?
(9) What State-listed species would be
impacted by the introduction of Python,
Boa or Eunectes species?
(10) What species have been
impacted, and how, by Python, Boa or
Eunectes species?

Re: Boa and Python Ban
Here is the Readers Digest version:
- They are considering adding the genus Boa, Python, and Eunectes to the Injurious Wildlife List.
- Only licensed facilities could get these snakes shipped to them (research, education, etc ....... NOT keepers or breeders)
- You can still own them and breed them in your state.
- You COULD NOT ship them out of state or get them shiped to you.
- Violation of this would be a Lacey Act violation which is a Federal Offense and very serious.
