It's that great time of year to be watching football. The playoff races are tight and drama is high.
Most divisions in the AFC are still up for grabs with at least 2 divisions having only a one game difference between each of the 4 teams in the division. Oakland has now won 4 in a row, after losing 4 in a row, after starting the season 4-0...will they start to slide again or make a strong run to the playoffs? The AFC West is highly competative, with the last place Chiefs playing .500 ball and proving their offense can blowup any given week. With their blowout loss to the Bills on sunday, the Dolphins have left the door open in the AFC east, all four teams being separated by one game. In the AFC North, the Steelers are looking to hold off the surging Ravens with a win against Houston this week. And the Browns aren't out of the race, even after losing to the Panthers, having beat the Saints the week before.
In the NFC, things are different. The Packers have run away with the division in the pathetic NFC North and with the Eagles defense beating the Rams this week, it looks like the 49ers, currently looking pretty shaky, will wrap up the NFC west. The Eagles have moved 3 games ahead in the NFC east with two huge wins by their defense and 2nd & 3rd string QB's. The only real drama in the NFC is in the south, with Tampa, Atlanta and New Orleans separated by only a single game. The red hot Falcons (haven't lost since Oct 6th) play the Bucs this weekend in what will have huge playoff implications.
God, I love football in December!

Football, Christmas, Vacation all great reasons to love December. My predicition is that the Raiders will stay strong and it will be the Packers and the Raiders in January. I love the games every Sunday, the fans half-naked in the snow....ahh......football.

Falcons are looking good aren't they? Being my home team...it almost makes me wish I was a Falcons fan about now... LOL...but I have always and will always be a Cowboys fan...and I have to root for them. Someone must have passed Emmit the memo that he was washed up and #$%^$%^$%^$%^$%^$%^& him off because he suddenly became 10 years younger on Thanksgiving...Hope he stays #$%^$%^$%^$%^$%^$%^& off. I was already beginning to miss the guy. They may not go all the way...but look for them to screw up a few Sundays for other teams. Emmit seems to want to pad his record on the way out and make it tougher for the next guy...and he still has that "Most hundred yard games" title to take from Barry Sanders...I don't think he is willing to settle for a tie on that one. Nor do I believe he will settle for a win by one...I've taken this year off from rooting for the 'Boys to just rooting for Emmit. LOL

I couldn't predict much with the way the teams are going. There is still a lot that can open in the next few games. Raiders ain't going to the Super Bowl. I figure the Bucs will probably make it this year. Maybe the Aints! <--LOL Julius was here!

Yeah, makes me proud (cough...cough...) to live in Atlanta. Shady1, you have much confidence in the Falcons, almost to an arrogant level. They are doing great right now, and I am happy for them, but let's not forget that they ARE the Falcons, and historically they throw it all away in the last few weeks, or in crucial games, like....ummmm.....let's see......oh, ya! THE SUPER BOWL?!?!
And Jules, I have always been a Redskin fan, but I won't hold it against you that you like the Cowboy's. The problem with the 'Skins is that thier coach is a wussy..no leadership.
My real team is the Vikings, as that is my home state. Not much to talk about there. As soon as Daunte remembers that his wide receivers are the ones in purple, and Moss remembers why they are paying him 4 million a year, they will be strong again.

I wouldn't call it too much confidence in the falcons, they won all 4 Pre season games, the 3 losses they have now were very close games, if they beat tampa this week, I think they'll take it all the way
