I find myself sitting at the computer reading a book and poking around the site when I am probably supposed to be working, and I got wondering. I enjoy reading quite a bit and I am sure that I am not the only intellectual out there so I wanted to know some favorite literature.

I find myself doing the same thing all too often... Not to sure on what type of literature you are looking for, but for fiction, I like Thomas Harris (Dark Sunday, Silence of the Lambs) and Johnathan Kellerman (Monster, Dr Death) books. Dark and twisted crime novels. I read quite a bit too, and I like to get suggestions for my next book(s) from friends to keep my reading diverse. But the above authors I find myself going back to as new books are written.

Michael Crichton is a good author too. The movies that were made from his books were OK, but the books are always better! James Patterson is good too.

Well, if this wasn't what you were looking for... Ohh Well! Take Care!

I have 26 different books on the Imperial Japanese Navy of WWII ( I define a book as something in excess of 1" thick, btw) and related material.

The biology, husbandry and health care of reptiles (3 volume set) is some thick reading.

In my mind, an outstanding book is "Snakes", by Harry Greene, recommended by my good buddy Telefrag. Has a very scientific slant and a book I couldn't put down until I finished.

Two of my favorites were actually required reading in high school, Brave New World, and 1984. I really liked the way they have a twist at the end and dont have that classic happy ending that most stories have.

I cant get into fiction or history, but snake/biology books rule.

Snakes-evolution of mystery in nature (Harry Greene) mentioned by J-Riiiiiiiillleeeeeey
Rattlesnake-portrait of a predator (Manny Rubio)
A monograph of the colubrid snakes of the genus Elaphe-fitzinger (Klaus Dieter Schultz)
Snakes of Thailand and their husbandry (Meril J Cox)
Color Guide to snakes of Sri-Lanka (Anselm de Silva)
Goanna (Dennis ? and Brian Green)
Snakes- ecology and behavior (Siegel and Collins)
Guide to the snakes of Papua/New Guniea (Mark O'shea)

those are the ones most pulled off my bookshelves.

Wow.. all these books grace my shelves and are among my favorites! Good taste in reading I must say, herm!

Other favorites include anything related to animals/biology/nutrition. Just read (twice) a book by Kymythy Schultze called The Ultimate Diet : Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats. Very interesting reading (just switched our dogs to a bioilogically appropriate diet this weekend after doing the research).

Sci-fi/Fantasy... JRR Tolkien, Robert Jordan, Ann Rice - can't get enough of these!

I just love to read..
