It's really sad.... one reader (he was only 9!) had sent in a photograph of an alligator snapper found near his home that had been shot with a shotgun. Another reader wrote about an episode of COPS that showed officers mace a snake twice and beat it to death, then threw it in the trash can. They said the snake was outside the house, but that it looked like a carpet python (not sure where that could have been.) [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_cry.gif[/img]
Edit: Sorry, I guess when I started the thread, I should have said what was in the mag.....

The snake on COPS was a black rat snake. By no means am I defending the officers' actions, but they were reacting to what they perceived as a threat. Remember that not everyone is as enlightened in regards to reptiles as we are, and a large segment of the general population thinks that all snakes are venomous.
