Re: A cruel world for animals.

I wish I had not seen this. I cannot stop crying. I can't believe animals are treated this way.

Yeah, it is really disturbing. My first exposure to videos of this type was when I was at a dog sledding competition, and believe me, while PETA hates companion animals... they think people like me who work dogs are the very scum of the universe, nearly on par with the people in this video.

So PETA went to a competition me,Light and Dark were at to protest. I was maybe 14 or 15 years old. I had to vomit several times and could only race the first one and I was so distracted that I gave up halfway and just went home and stayed with Light and Dark.

Re: A cruel world for animals.

It doesn't matter who put the video out, whether it was PETA or someone else. Obviously this stuff is happening. I am quite disturbed by it. I knew animals were being killed in large quantities for their fur in places like China. Aside from coats, a lot of the fur ends up on little animal figurines that are sold here in the states. I was already aware of that tragic fact. But it never occurred to me that the animals were not being killed humanely. I cannot stomach the cruelty I saw in the video. Those scenes, especially the last one, will haunt me for a long long time. Does anyone know where this is taking place and what we can do about it? I feel as if I cannot rest until I have at least written a letter or something. It's just too horrible for words. I am still so upset I am shaking with rage. It's hard to watch something like this and just stand by helplessly.

Obviously there are far better causes for PETA to target than companion animals who are loved and treated well.

At this time, all you can do is know what the clothes you are buying are made out of. Denim and cotton are plants, synthetics are good. You can write to large clothes companies that sell leather, fur, and so on and encourage them to demand changes.

There are people working at changing this but they are similarly the people we don't want to be supporting. As for where this happens, pretty much everywhere that's not a first world country. Heck, it happens here in America too although to a far less extent.

I'm not sure what else you can do, I think this is a case where money speaks louder than words because these people are doing it for money. If they are not making money doing it, they would not do it.

Re: A cruel world for animals.

In what countries are dog and cat fur being worn? I have to tell you, I cuddled my cats so hard after watching that!

Even if you asked me "What countries do not wear dog and cat fur?" I still would not know the answer. Truth of the matter is, a lot of the fur sold here in america is probably made out of dogs and cats. Unless it is specifically dictated what it comes from.

If it's cheap fur, it almost definitely is cat and dog.

And i know what you meant, I did that to all my pets too, even though I've seen it in it's many variations before.

Depends on where the leather comes from... I think a lot of it comes from the cattle that are slaughtered for our food... and in my case, I just sent some deer hides of mine that I got from deer that I've humanely shot myself (while deer hunting) up to a place in Michigan that tans and makes clothing from mostly what you send them. Some of it is some hide they already have, but the majority of hides that come to them from customers are deer and cow.

Also if I see any kind of real fur upclose in person I can usually tell where it came from... have yet to see cat or dog fur, and I would really hate to.

I didn't bother to watch the video as I really didn't need any image like that in my mind that wouldn't go away for days. It was bad enough seeing a video awhile back of a guy biting a snake's head off alive.

Oh... and that guy on the show Man vs. Wild bit off the head of a live frog in one episode... and they showed that on TV.
