Re: Natures Stop Sign

i understand. perhaps i didnt word it well. what i meant to say is that if it continues at this rate this is what we may be facing. and yes people have to start changing their attitudes. but yes it can be done. what really upsets me is that this has to do with one thing ..profit. ............dont worry we are on the same side for sure. i apologize if it sounded like i was attacking you.

Re: Natures Stop Sign

Either way, single or double road, it has to be a very wide road to be able to take on the width of the huge logging trucks... Doesnt really matter tbh, the pic was put up so that we can appreciate the fact that we still have accurences like these from time to time... Lets just hope we will still have them in 50yrs.

If I saw that around here I'd have to take the sign home with me.

Re: Natures Stop Sign

I sure hope she made it safely across the road and into the bush.

If it ws here in Jamaica, the picture would have been taken and then the snake killed, 70 percent of the time - or the snake killed and then the picture taken like, with people triumphantly holding up a dead blue marlin. This happened just recently with a large Jamaican Boa.

When the little Jamaican Boas that I have keeping here (they are gravely endangered) are old enough to be released (when I think they are big enough to survive the rodents and hawks) I sure hope I can find a "wild" enough place left to release them in, if not, what then for them?

They can grow to ten feet or more and people here, for the most part, hate and fear them and will destroy them on sight.

i would just take the furniture out of a room ......instant enclosure.the only thing stopping me from getting one is the added responsibility. i have a friend here in montreal that comes across greens every now and then. they are my favourites.imo they have a mystique about them other snakes dont seem to have.

Re: Natures Stop Sign

Ya know Let me step up on the soap box for a moment.......LOL

I am 36 years old and until august of this year I could not even look at a toy snake without freaking OUT!......God forbid if I saw one in the yard I would be done for the day!

That being said:
Here is is almost december, I have held and enjoyed holding every snake in this house....I have been Bitten 4 times and still go back and handle those that have bitten me.......I actually helped my 2 year old catch a green snake that 2 other children were trying to smash with rocks...we caught it and looked it over to make sure all was ok and released it in a much better and safer place!
MY Whole attitude about snakes has changed completely...I do feel sad that wild snakes are suffering due to human actions and so forth...If people would put just as much into thinking of these things when they are destroying there living areas maybe something COULD BE DONE....I don't know if educating would help or not...I know I'm doing alot better now that I have faced my fear!...OK I just had to say that!...:::::::::::stepping down off my homemade soap box::::::::::Thank you!
