Members vs Guests
So I normally don't notice the "current online users" statistics, but as I write this there are 34 members online and 140 guests (which is pretty impressive). My question is are there that many folks out there sharing our interests that just popped in at once and don't feel like registering?

Re: Members vs Guests
I think a lot of them are registered users, reading without signing in.

Re: Members vs Guests
Geez, just leave your (the "guests") cookies turned on then you won't need to sign in each time. Although depending on how many people use your PC that may or may not be a consideration.

Re: Members vs Guests
I've been on as a "guest" almost all day - because I'm at my mom's house for thanksgiving and I don't want anything of mine saved on her computer. ^.~
I do the same thing when I'm at a friend's house or logged in on my hub's account on our laptop. It's easier, and more often than not I have no input on threads. I read the threads, chuckle or sniffle as appropriate, and log out.

Re: Members vs Guests
That makes sense, didn't think about everyone being away from "home-base" this weekend.

Re: Members vs Guests
Well - it is thanksgiving.
I at least had to come, micromanage my little brothers (7 and 8 ), scream at gramma (in order to be heard), give a heartwarming speech (I'm adopted), make alcoholic super-chocolate hot chocolate(I just turned 21 nov. 11th), and set/clear the table (I'm the eldest kid).
Not to mention, I had a cricket farm I needed to finish cleaning out, and an old rat cage to bring back to my house that I somehow forgot to take over when I moved and have been sitting forgotten in the garage ever since.
I dunno about you guys - but I'm pooped!!!

Re: Members vs Guests
Well, I am lucky, everyone lives here in town, so I go over for dinner and then go home. Now, since I run a restaurant, somehow a big part of the "orchestration" of the dinner has become my and my brothers (he worked as a cook for Carinos for many years troughout college) responsibility. Nonetheless, Thanksgiving and Christmas are my two favorite days of the year. It was awesome having a white Thanksgiving here in Lubbock, 80 degrees on Mon and Tues, 28 and snow for Thanksgiving.

Re: Members vs Guests
Crazy... me, I hate most holidays. I find them deplorable and seriously twisted. I don't even particularly care for birthdays.
I only do the whole "holiday" thing because A.) I like free stuff and B.) if I didn't, my family would think I didn't love them.
*sigh* ~.~'

Re: Members vs Guests
I definitly can acknowledge the various pressures of the holidays! For me though, the holidays seem to take me back to my youth. Maybe it's the pleasant silence when youu walk outside and the usual city sounds are muted by snow and clouds, or the Christmas lights, I don't really know. I am a pretty nostalgic person, so traditional things bring me comfort. I still love to watch Boom TV with all the old cartoons I grew up watching and will trade American Idol and Survivor for Andy Griffith and All in the Family.
