i gave a speech on my "redtail boa constrictor" yesterday and had him out and traveling for quit a while. I don't think he got real cold or anything because he was only outside a minute or 2 and was wrapped around my neck. i put him back in his cage and he was still on his favorite log when i went to bed at like 1:30a.m anyways i recently changed my substrate (2weeksago) from carpet to cypress mulch. and couldn't find him in the mornig until i saw him burried in a corner with just his nose sticking out! Is he crazy? am i crazy for thinking he is crazy? all of the temps are correct and he has many hiding places and a humidity box that was cleaned that day. any ideas? probably normal but was the first time he has ever done that (that i have seen anyways).

This is totally normal. All boas hide and will often burrow under the substrate. The boa is definately NOT crazy but dont know if we can say the same about owner though. hehe j/k

Like BO said this is normal! I had a baby BCI that did this right before going into shed! Also I have a King snake that does it now!

Our BCC has taken to hiding under the substrate all the time. The first time he did it I thought he had escaped.

Come to think of it it has been getting alot warmer and(dryer) in my room lately i spray the tank likt 3 or 4 times a day and is still hard to keep the humidity up. I think he is going down there because its moist and he can hide

Just make sure that it doesn't get too moist in the substrate for your snake. You wouldn't want any problems like scale rot to get going with him. When you mist the cage...aim for anything other than the substrate with a bci.
HEck that is NOT a zoo ! lmao
Yeah they do like to burrow in the substrate some of them. I have bcc/guyana that love to do that.
