Good Luck, Hunters!
For those of you that hunt (biggame, small game, etc), and those with deer gun season starting tomorrow, just thought I'd say good luck to you all and hope you get a nice one, whether it be a buck or doe or it.
I bow hunt also, and I've had since early October but I haven't had the chance to get out and hunt yet due to college needs, but.... since I have the whole week of Thanksgiving off now for gun season, I've finally got the time. I'll be buck hunting for the first three days and see how it goes. Last year I got a nice 7pt on the first day, I hope I get something nice this year also. There are SO many deer this year and I've got a great place to hunt on some private land (120 acres) with tons of deer sign and generally lots of natural foods for them to eat, so it should be great.

Re: Good Luck, Hunters!
Good luck I haven't hunted but would like to try it. Not rifle, but bow hunting. I used to hate hunting but have since changed my mind and recognized the need for it, especially for deer! That's what being in a wildlife management field will do to you. Go out there and "manage" a few females too while you're at it.

Yep, I'm majoring in Wildlife Management... I doe hunt also.... well, I basically get whatever comes my way, but I do avoid the small ones though, otherwise I usually end up with little button bucks or something.
Saw a lot of deer today but didn't get anything; somehow the scope got screwed up so I missed. -.- But that will be an easy fix with a lazer-bore sighter and some tightening of screws first thing tomorrow morning... at 4am. lol
I'll admit I used to not like the idea of hunting growing up either.... something about taking a mandatory hunter saftey course in middle school kinda got me turned around, and, being young of course I was ignorant, but now I understand.

Re: Good Luck, Hunters!
Already got my mule deer buck in September, working on a nice big freezer-filling white-tail now. I hunt with a rifle and a crossbow, personally. Canada's a little safer I think, people up here aren't quite as trigger happy as I've heard they can be in some places in the States. I dunno if our regulations're different, but we gotta buy the hunting license itself, and then a tag for most individual big game, so you gotta actually make sure what you're shooting at is legal.
Going out tomorrow morning, actually! Love going out for the experience of being in the bush more than actually getting anything a lot of times.. I get to see so many things that you wouldn't see stuck in the house, or at work all the time.

Re: Good Luck, Hunters!
I've got a friend with some property in S. Texas. I was out earlier this fall for exotics, but a 400 yd. uphill shot on a ram I didn't want to have to climb up and get anyway just didn't seem like a good shot. I've still got hog in the freezer from the spring hunt. Unfortunately, he makes too much money off the property during deer season for us to be down there adding pressure. It looks like it'd be good herping ground, too. I figure the rodents must love the feeders, and I hear snakes like rodents.
