I need to fly down to Florida like asap [ Juls I'm flying not driving]. Got a call last night that my father was rushed to the hospital and it's not too great atm last night. My mother is a wreck to say the least. Was planning on going this weekend and driving down.BUT just got woken up awhile ago with yet another call. My father has been in surgery all night long [ took a turn for the worse and he's listed as critical atm in recovery].
I need to find out still how soon I can get an emergency flight out of here down there even still. Anyone know which airlines have anything set up for family emergency flights for this type of thing at all..and what ya do to get one set up even ? Are they still cutting fares for such things even ? I also have to take care of something here first too..UGH.
I need to go to the Orlando airport from what I know atm. They don't even live near there. they live in Sunrise, which is near Ft. Lauderdale.. like 4 hours away. They were up in Kissimmee in a hotel when all this happened..UGH. So my mother is totally lost and a wreck atm to say the least. She doesn't even drive and their car and stuff is at the hotel [ I gotta take care of that among other stuff for them] Once/IF my dad stablizes enough.. I also need to set up a med flight for him to come to the General in Boston [ hospital] for further surgery also. The Dr's who did last nights surgery were completely lost to say the least due to my dad's history with this problem from years ago...The Dr's up here are familiar with not only what needs to be done but also with him in particular too.
Are there any members that are in the orlando area even that might be able to give me a lift from Orlando airport to either the hospital [ told it is the ??Celebration Health Hospital?? just near Orlando..still have to verify that even also..arghh] or their hotel in Kissimmee and I can grab their car and find my way to the hospital even ? I'd appreciate it much

I just opened my email.. Have been ol getting all the airline #'s to call etc. Still don't have anything set in stone yet..UGH.

THANX HEATHER!! I am still trying to get a flight and figure all that out atm ..UGH. I'll let you know though. I appreciate it ;}

I hope your dad gets better soon, and I am thinking of you. By the way in case no one mentions it. You are a great daughter for doing all of this for your folks, you are appreciated by me for one as being the kind of person too many people are not today. I hope it all works out for the best. You're in my thoughts.

OK.. I'm down in Orlando/Kissimmee area atm. What a fiasco trying to get a flight asap..arghh. of course all the bs associated with the flying down here was up to par too. My flight was scheduled to come in at like 10:30pm...hour late and didn't get here till like 11:45 I think it was. Heather and Will picked me up at the airport and got me out to the hospital and then the hotel to grab my father's car. THANX GUYS !! I really appreciate it !! Now here's what's going on atm.. My father has a very serious infection...it has gone septic also [ prior to my coming down here even]..also has peritonitis [ this is what went septic btw] Juls or one of the others can explain all the medical relative to this stuff even. [ I have limited time on the pc atm. didn't bring mine and finally found one that I could use at a local school here] He had 2 surgeries within 12 hours of each other on Wednesday..One they couldn't complete due to his condition not being stable and him being in critical condition. he's been upgraded to critically stable atm though. UGH My mother of course had no clue just how serious this was / or still is even atm. I have explained it all to her and even working on the moment in getting her to relate the dnr and living will things to the Dr's here so that they have it on file if they need it. I've given them a verbatum DNR though, but my mother is the one that legally needs to give it to them as she is the NOK not I. My father is conscious now.. and talking but not out of danger medically yet. Dr's won't even give a % on survival as the infection is so serious that he has even.

Soo Now that my mother has managed to drive me insane quite a bit et all.. wtf is in the greater orlando/Kissimmee area that I can link up with to get a break from all this going on for a few ? I don't have the cell [ gee think I forgot a few things on the way down here lol] Here's some #'s ya can get in touch with me at for now ...
hospital : Florida Health celebrations Hospital 407-303-4000 room 334 [ My dad will most likely answer it if ya call.. Just ask for me is all. I'm not there 24/7 but usually between 10am and 112 midnite I am though. [ atm I am not hehe.. Will be back there at like 7pm though]

I'm staying at the Magic castle Inn and Suites.. it's on route 192 in Kissimmee..room 112 [ there's two of these btw , one at each end of the main gate strip] Sorry I don't know what the # is though.
I am here till the 12th december.. if I need to I will fly home and then back here again though.
I gotta go and clean out my email atm.. LATERS...

septicimia = blood poisoning...infection gets in the blood stream and attacks vital organs. I'm sure he is on a healthy dose of IV antibiotic...probably cipro.

Peritonitis is Inflammation of the peritoneum...the sac that lines the abdominal cavity.

Lori...Hang in there. This kinda thing is never easy to deal with but it's all part of life. We have to confort the sick as well as the other family members that are distraught and stressed...I know you are one of those too...ya just gotta do what ya can to comfort each other. If ya need me call anytime. I'll try ya this evening at the hospital.
