Just had to put this in here, because probably no one else but you guys cares. The story that Lori posted on the home page about the snakes that froze to death makes me sick. Not only did those animals suffer needlessly, but it's proof of another idiot out there. This is what gives those of us who truly love our animals a bad name. Can we please get a story about a snake saving a child or at the very least a good one about how great they are as pets?? So much negative publicity..........breaks my heart

Unfortunately most of the press is nothing but bad stories on snakes...........
As for snake saving kid stories.. I think the only time we'll hear of that is if the snake is saving the kid for a snack later....

Well, its going to happen.
It may have very well been an accident as well, perhaps the owner had them improperly housed
in transit (in his/her car) and they got out.
I dont know how a large python escapes from a car, but.....
who knows what really happened.

Well it seem's these were 2 very rare and highly venomous species! Both highly dangerous and poisonous a Python and Boa Constrictor! I just had to be a Smart you know what about this! Here's the link to an article that was written with out any research at all! No in matter of fact instead of the link what the heck that's the joy of copy and paste! But I will add the link for those of you that may feel the need to email these mentally challenged people!
Dead Snakes
Here's their story!
Dead Snakes Donated to Science
McLean County
Jessica D'Onofrio
Two poisonous snakes found dead at a west side truck stop in Bloomington have been donated to science.
A 15-foot python and seven-foot boa constrictor were found Wednesday at the Pilot Travel Center near a fence.
Now McLean County animal control has given them to ISU's biology department. Professors there said the two snakes will be put to good use.
"We teach courses in comparative anatomy and in herbatology where having a specimen is certainly useful and we will try to salvage what we can in terms of some useful structural components of the snakes so that they will be for the benefit of our teaching labs," said Angelo Capparella, associate professor of zoology.
Animal control said it would be hard to find out who abandoned the snakes because a lot of people travel through that truck stop.
Capparella said he does not encourage people to keep exotic pets or bring them to ISU's lab

I emailed her to let her know of her error, let's see if she retracts. Maybe we should all flame her.

You're right, I stand corrected. I let her know that Herbatology was not a word. You'd figure she have spellchecker turned on in her word processor.

As I have posted in reply to this story, I have heard recently that someone south was looking to place a Large Burm through the CHS. But when the time came they got all secretive and backed out. I just Emailed the lady that does adoptions for CHS and see if she has any info on this person. Would be sweet to get some kind of cruely charge brought onto them.

LMAO.. herbatology huh ? That could be plants or the specialty of herbs even [ no splee checker here or dictionary being used btw lol]
I spoke with Nick Stroman of the channel this was on.. and also asked him to relate the correct info to the reporter who did the article also. he says they didn't state "poisonous" on the 3 different aired stories for the article and also stated that the website didn't say such either.. Umm.. I pointed it out for him word for word and he noted such hehe. he also said that they would update the website to reflect correct information in relation to the "poisonous" thing and that these two snakes are NOT vens either [ I explained the difference and the ignorance that abounds in such area of poisonous vs venomous to him btw hehe].
I also sent an email off to the news director.. Amanda Wozniak mailto:awozniak@whoitv.com and cc'd Nick Stroman also on it as well... mailto:nstroman@whoitv.com
Btw.. Didn't get an email for the reporter that did that article but I did get her cell # hehe... It was Jessica D'Onofrio 309-310-5706
Just write em or call em and let em know they need to correct their info if they're going to write such things is all basically The news stations # 309-698-1950 or 309-663-1919 for the news rooms btw.
Isn't ignorance bliss!!??
