Fearsome Felix - a Monster Hurricane!!!

Well it did not get far enough North to affect Jamaica! Not like Dean did a few weeks ago.

Look out, Gus, and anyone else in Texas in its possible path. It's a terrible Category 5 with 165 mile per hour wind. It's south of us right now about 275 miles away.

I will be thinking about all the people on the Yucatan and in Mexico, which has had enough already!

The weather.com storm tracker has Felix currently tracking toward Nicaragua and Honduras. If it turns north any then Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula are in danger as well. It would have to do some radical turning to cut up into the gulf and threaten Texas at the moment, but stranger things have happened.

The effects of this hurricane are already being felt here although we are so far north of it.

The thin strip of land (a small peninsula so narrow it can only take a two lane road) on the south coast in Kingston, which has the Airport on it, is right now being covered by huge waves and the road to the airport is dangerous or impassable.

Stargazer, what have you got there in Denver that I have to look out for when I come? Avalanches? Sasquash?

We have nothing here. It is quite boring. An occasional tornado makes it over to this part of town, like every 20 years, but I have never seen one. Oh, wait. We did have about 5 blizzards last year.

So then you could do with a nice little hurricane to liven things up a bit for you?

When you come I will try to arrange a small but interesting Category 1. Maybe Jim Cantore (of The Weather Channel - he is a hurricane addict and is off to Mexico for Felix) can come up with something to suit us.

Yes, they have been known to make about turns and come right back again! Depends on the prevailing conditions around them - low/high pressure etc.

Tammy really we need to move yo to some place safe. Here in Johannesburg you don't have weather (except draughts) only the hijackers and other criminals.

What???? No weather???? I would go into instant withdrawal crisis.

Now the criminals I can relate to. But then, we just had a General Election and a change of government after eighteen years (thanks to my vote) so maybe the new set of white collar criminals have a new and different game up their sleeve ready to inflict upon we who put them there. Whatever.
