good guy-bad guy...review board.....board of inquiry
it seems that these types of boards/reviews are all part of a totally flawed system. it gets under my skin every time i skim across some of it. when it involves people i KNOW are good folks and people i KNOW would go out of their way to be fair, it really gets to me. i also find it funny that someone is questionable after one "less than perfect transaction".
i blame wal-mart. people feel like their "no receipt needed, no investigation needed, just bring it back" attitude should apply to everyone. there is a guy on one now that is complaining about a baby ball python being a picky eater after he supposedly received it in good health. it was a high dollar morph, which probably has more to do with it than anything, but it's like buyers refuse to assume ANY responsibility because "at wal-mart, i can get another one". this guy had the snake 60 days before complaining about a thing, and whether he was truly wronged or not is not an issue after that long. if the animal wasn't eating 10-14 days, he should have mentioned it. if keeping it was an option, he should have given a weekly update, keeping up with the weight and documenting anything that may come in handy.
even victims aren't given free passes. nowadays, with the things a simple cell phone can do, you should be able to document about EVERYTHING that is relevant to a conversation. i record all my phone calls, save all my emails, take pictures/videos of anything that may be pertinent later IF there is a dispute, etc.
just no excuse for it. a LOT of people are just not capable of caring for certain animals, they get in over their head (probably after being told they're in over their head), and try to get SOMETHING out of it and the consequences can ruin people's lives, INNOCENT, GOOD PEOPLE'S lives. if people do a search and there is 2 threads about you, one saying you're a good guy and another one that says "my snake died and i paid $1500", well, who is probably gonna say "that's the guy for me".
just a very flawed, illogical setup. good idea, but there are usually 20 pages involving 50 other people who "have no horse in the race".
and of course, stupid people will live and die by it, like someone without a thread or without a bad thread are incapable of doing you wrong.
keep in mind that "we don't talk about other boards on this site" so we can't mention any board in particular

What are you, a broken record? The other thread was closed. Move on to other topics.

The Inquest has been flawed for years. That said, you're mostly right about documenting, and working for a retailer with a fairly lax return policy, I can assure you, people have an incredible sense of entitlement. However, when I spend MY hard earned money, I expect to get my money's worth. Does that mean that I expect cheap products to perform as well as better ones? No, but if something breaks the first time I use it, we've got a problem. As for reptiles and their purchase...yeah, the 'net does have some issues, but in general, it's a decent system. It's at least as good as the Better Business Bureau, which is a joke in it's own right.
I'll close with two pieces of advice/wisdom/whatever for you.
1) I don't know you or your story, but the tone of your post leads me to believe you were a seller that was somehow maligned. It's entirely possible I'm wrong, that's just my opinion based on my interpretation of what you didn't write. If I were going to jump to a conclusion, that would be it.
2) Be careful about recording calls. In 13 states, it's a felony to record telephone conversations without both parties' consent. Florida and California come to mind.
