What drives me mad!
I just can't understand why people do some things.
islandpacket.com | Photo: 13-foot alligator captured on Hilton Head Island
I can understand catching the gator and relocating it. But not killing it then selling the meat and skin. Never mind the fact that they have the human species beat by millions of years, and the fact that they were on that land first before we plowed it down with no where for them to go.
Around here all a person has to do is say the gator was being brazen or threatening and it's execution is sealed. Drives me mad!

Yeah, you're right. Anyone whose seen that episode of Mythbusters on gators will see how reluctant they are to even lunge up out of the water at you, much less pursue you on land...Reading this makes me miss Skittles and Sh***les. They were the cutest little gators ever. I wish they could have stayed.

Re: What drives me mad!
We totally should do that. I was watching an Animal Planet show on gators and the bigger they are the more carefully they select their prey. I don't think they are that dangerous but you know how ignorant people are, one of my snakes got out and they were going to kill it before this maintenance guy found it and told us. Thank god. She is my baby! I WAS SO MAD AT THOSE PEOPLE.

they wont bother with you unless you invade their territory. we had 3 huge alligator ponds right behind our beach cabin in johnson's bayou LA, and you could walk about 6" deep in water before they even looked at you. even then they just sat there. once you got about 2' in they would start moving towards you, but only to say "hey, back up a little". none of them were aggressive, and they were adults! i hate the bad rep they get because some people are ignorant and beleive anything they hear.

Re: What drives me mad!
People around here are so overly undereducated its not funny! Not to mention arrogant and rich. So all three are a really bad combo...

Re: What drives me mad!
Yes, I have gotten into so many arguemnts in my short time as a herper so far. People reveal new lows with the slightest provocation. It makes me sick. Crocs have earned their lives. We haven't compared to their long long long time on earth. WTF? People suck.
Thank god I found this forum...
