About the Jefferson quote. The earliest reference in books or on line to that quote is 1984. It's unliklely Jefferson actually said it.

The saying is a version of notable Bible passages.. and if it was said by Jefferson no one seems to know it besides a few idealogical anti-gun law bloggers.
