My friend called to tell me about an illegal reptile breeding / drug operation that was busted over the weekend.
I haven't got the full details on the bust, just that a guyfrom Gentry, Arkansas (same county as I am) was busted for "illegally breeding Rattlesnakes and Pythons" among other things..
Arkansas law statutes allow exotics, and possession of natives, up to a certain number. Buying, selling & trading of native species is prohibited, however. Not sure what Gentry's city ordinances are.
I'll know more when I can find the silly article..lol Been looking for it all day.
So far all I know is 250 rattlesnakes were seized.
I haven't heard anything from our local herp society. I would have figured at least a couple of the members from our local herp society would have been contacted for assistance..but so far..nothing. Makes me a bit concerned for the well-being of the snakes..It wouldn't be the first time our local officials put down snakes on the spot in a drug arrest.
