FTC abandons net neutrality

Please watch this short youtube video, explaining what I am talking about, how we are all at risk, and how it affects you.

YouTube - Humanity Lobotomy - Second Draft

If you don't want to watch it, let me explain what is going on.

Right now, the internet runs off of net neutrality. This means that you can access any website at whatever speed your connection allows.

Well? Guess what. The FTC has NOW (as of July 7) allowed the major telecom companies to restrict which websites load at which speeds, saying that only the highest bidding website will be broadcast at full speed, or be broadcast at all. So, the websites (small websites or special interest websites... such as... RTB.net!?) that cannot pay the fee will be either cut off through these pipelines, or load as low as 1/100th of their normal speed.

What does this mean for you? This means that any special interest website (such as this one) will be told by the telecom companies "pony up the money, or else people on our service may not be able to see your website".

Read this all carefully, so you understand how this is disabling you. This is disabling you because the telecom companies - the companies that own the phone lines - can NOW say "you can see this website - this website will run extremely slow - or this website cannot be viewed at all through our services".

Net Neutrality is now gone in the United States.

Just to clarify, this is not a group of people vs another group of people. This is the telecom companies taking away our resources only because the US Congress says these corporations can!!

Please act now and help us reverse this. Please let me know if you have any questions about this.

If you would like to speak out against this movement and gain your internet freedom back, please visit Save the Internet : Fighting for Internet Freedom. I'm sorry if this sounds like it, but this is NOT SPAM. THIS WEBSITE MAY BE UNACCESSABLE FOR A LOT OF US IF WE DO NOT DO SOMETHING TO FIGHT THIS.

Please let me know if you have questions. And please, watch the video. This is not a bunch of radicals speaking out on the issue, this is REALITY. This is what is happening right now, and us, the consumers are losing. We're losing a lot.

Re: FTC abandons net neutrality

i called both of my senators' offices and voiced my opinion for net neutrality but we all know that this country is money oriented and that the guys in charge are all buddies with "the right people".

this is a money hungry country, money matters more than ANYTHING to those in charge and this is probably a lost cause.

we're in a sad state of affairs. those with money are happy because they're making more, those without aren't because freedom is slipping through their fingers, and it's a lose-lose situation in the long run. it's sickening.

Re: FTC abandons net neutrality

I think with enough consumer feedback, they'll listen.

The more we do, the more of a chance we have of getting a Net Neutrality law passed.
