yeah, you need proof to join the club....I'm not even a member and I know that! That's one club I'm not looking forward to joining, my snakes are getting bigger and bigger which means bigger damage....

I just joined. Was out on a Geology field trip and tipped a rock looking for Skolithos trace fossils and found a Garter Snake. He bit me picking him up, but all was good Just two small holes. Just wanted to let you know
As a side note, he looked odd, not like the Eastern's I'm used to, he was almost all black with a speckled back...sound familiar?
Thanks,
Melesse

hey, some time ago before the kid thing. I had a pair of burms they were both about 12 feet long. I was holding one of them when my dog jumped up and scared the poopy out of the snake. The snake decided to bite me on the head. The one jaw hit me in the bridge of the nose and the other hit me in the throat. Well wasn't i a lucky boy!!!!!!! Later

I've been paying my bleeders' dues lately, too. One of Noodle's babies is a real pissant -- a foot and a half long and hisses louder than his mother. Clamped onto my knuckle the first time I tried to pick him up. And then the mother -- a pretty calm snake before the delivery, now she thinks she's defending the nest and passes up no opportunity to attack the hands that come in to change her water, etc. I only go in there now with long sleeves and gloves. She nailed me but good the other day -- alligatored down on the fleshy part of my palm, drew blood right through the polypro jogger's gloves I was wearing. Ouch! Another time she mistook her own body for part of mine, and bit herself in the side -- a dead shot, clamped down with both jaws.
Now I'm afraid of her.

Hmm..I got bit by a baby albino king snake, but I didn't bleed. Too bad for me. But I did witness my brother being bit in the butt by a large dog. Man that was the funniest event in my life..hearing him yelp like a little school girl made my day.

I was 'initiated' today (not the first time I've been a bleeder, but the most recent since I found out about what it is) Surprisingly it was a Velvet Gecko. The three we have in the store just arrived about a week ago, so they are still nippy and 'shy', so I've been working on calming them down a bit. They catch me all the time, but up until today they never broke skin. Somehow today one of them managed to draw blood, I don't even know how it did it but it did. One of the other ones clamped onto my finger and wouldn't let go for almost a min and a half, didn't break the skin but left a Perfect circle impression, it was so cool. I love those things, as a matter of fact, I'm buying two...The one that broke my skin (somehow, he just 'bonded' to me today and after about half an hour of sitting in my hand calmed down completelly and spent most of the rest of the day chilling on my shoulder) and one I haven't seen yet. I'm pretty excited.
