Is it safe.
My dad was wondering if it is safe to put a Ball Python in with a rtb. Does anyone know if this is safe or not?

Re: Is it safe.
It is NOT safe. You shouldn't be housing snakes in the same enclosure unless your are trying to get them to breed. (and a ball x RTB cross would be an ugly snake.)

Re: Is it safe.
Not only should you not house 2 snakes together unless breeding. These are 2 different species with 2 different husbandry needs

Re: Is it safe.
NOOOOOO!!!! Dont do it! Boas can be cannableistic! I have seen pictures of tons of cases where people have put the ball python in with the rtb or vice versa. The boa killed and ate the python. But how big is the boa, if the pythons much bigger than it, then there is no prob because BP aren't cannables.

Re: Is it safe.
only boa I ever heard of being cannibalistic is a dumerils boa. But that is besides the point housing 2 snakes together especially of 2 different species and not to mention who live on 2 opposite ends of the world is not good ever!

Re: Is it safe.
Just to reiterate: There are no good excuses to house any two snakes of different species together.
Ever.

Re: Is it safe.
It's been said, and then said again. Don't do it! Put the extra expense in for a new setup for the other snake, there's absolutely NO reason why two snakes should be housed in the same enclosure, unless they're two (of the same species of course) being introduced to breed.
It's irresponsible and just a show of how much the owner "cares" about the snakes to put them into a high-stress situation like that and not having an extra enclosure isn't an excuse either, considering if you don't have the money and expenses to buy what the new addition needs, then don't buy it. It's simple as that, WAIT until you've saved up enough and cleared a nice little space for the new snake so that you can be rest assured he'll have a happy, stress-free environment all to himself.
Even housing snakes of the same species together can cause undue stress, in that the snakes have to compete for hot spots and hides, it might not SEEM stressful to you, but how would you like it if you wandered over to your favorite bench in a park or something, the ONE place you wanted to sit all day and had this big, huge lazy guy sprawled out across it taking the whole thing up? It probably wouldn't stress you out too bad, but if that nice, warm bench was vital to you in some way it sure would, especially if said big guy wouldn't move.

Re: Is it safe.
...Yet sadly I have seen baby Columbians and BPs housed together at pet stores...as well as baby retics/condas.
