Hi everyone,
Just wondering how this fantastic site was started. How long ago? Was it originally only on boas? We could have an annual anniversary or something. I never stop marvelling how great this site is for all herpers.

Lore:
This story takes place almost TWO YEARS AGO! (No, you say! Noone Was Alive then!)
Once upon a time, there was a boy named Natas. People made fun of him all the time because he was a computer geek. He moved in with another computer geek named xXMaCaBrEXx and together they shaired a love of snakes and a love of computers regardless of what the world thought. But something in their life was missing.
They were both guys, out searching the wide world over for beautiful, computer geek, snake loving women to share their lives with. This story is not about that search. There was something else missing from their lives, though. A community of like minded individuals with whom to share their love and passion for snakes. They found a place on the internet that they thought was the promised land, but it was not so. It was good, but it lacked in the things that are needed in a community: Love, Compassion, Friendly People, Good Coding, Etc. So they threw caution to the wind and, with a pioneering spirit, they set out on their own to make a site that would not take the place of the other one, but it would provide people with the greatest freedom: Choice.
Thus Redtailboa.net was born and thus, started the first of the trials and tribulations with that other "promised land". The person who is in charge of the other place is a man that we will call the "Boss". The Boss had established a set of rules that the people must abide by in order to belong to the other place. Many of the rules were good "Thou shalt not post Porno on this Forum" and "Thou shalt not be abusive to thine fellow herper" but the list was long and Natas did not notice one of the rules: "Thou Shalt Not post a Link to your Place on the Net without it being accompanied by other information such as answers to questions, etc." (editors note: the verbiage to the actual rules has been changed to make them funnier.) Natas and xXMaCaBrEXx were excited about the place on the web, and they went to the other place and announced it thus: "Come See this THING which I have Created! http://www.redtailboa.net ". And Some of the people did come, and they saw it, and decided it was good. The list of names was hallowed and shall remembered. They included such names as Hisba, Morti, Captain Morgan... and there were others... which I don't remember.
But Some of the people did not come. Instead, they passed judgment on Natas, for his name is similar to sataN only backwards and they had seen Natas break one of the cardinal rules! They reported him to the Boss and all hope of promoting the new place to the un-knowledgable was dashed. The Boss declared redtailboa.net to be "Competition" and an "Upstart" and the people who came here were ostracized from that place, and they were not allowed to post the name redtailboa.net. And there was Much Crying, Wailing, and Pain.
A long struggle ensued and both sides were hurt, and neither side was victorious, but a truce was declaired and the people of redtailboa.net were allowed to come back if they promised not to say things like "Hey, come check out this Thing!" and the people of redtailboa.net stopped dragging the Boss's name through the mud, and there was much rejoicing!
Other esteemed names came: People such as Julius Squeezer, Eddie, Lori, Bry, and nearly 3000 more like them. There have been problems, and the place is not Utopia, but all of us are of like mind when we say together, Loud and Strong:
" REDTAILBOA.NET 0WNZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps Eddie... If you promise to be good, do your homework, take good care of your animals, and train up your daughter in the way of Redtailboa.net.

From www.dictionary.com
os·tra·cize
tr.v. os·tra·cized, os·tra·ciz·ing, os·tra·ciz·es
1. To exclude from a group. See Synonyms at blackball.
2. To banish by ostracism, as in ancient Greece

This is better than some fantasy of knights and dragons, or spies and big guns, whatever. I don't get it, what was wrong with posting links here?

Give praise ,
long overdue was the telling of the story of the beginning time.
Well told, Brother Morti ...well told.!
Kohm, it was another site which got upset with people posting links to
and singing the praises of RTB.

Thanks for the story Morti, good to get the info. Personally I love the classifieds on that other site, so many to choose from, but when it comes to people and the forum, THIS is the place to be!
