Subtle forum changes

I took it upon myself to make a couple of changes to the forums.

For one...there was a Tree boa/tree python forum but Morti added a "Genus Morelia" forum which made things a wee bit redundant...so I renamed the tree snake forum to "Genus Corallus". meaning this forum is just for amazons and emeralds now...yah I know...there are a few others but those are basically amazons from different trees...cooks etal are welcome here too.

2 new forums "Birds and Herp Anatomy"

We didn't have any forum whatso ever that addressed any questions about herp anatomy. I don't have a clue as to the depth of our collective knowledge on this subject but ask anyway. Asking questions causes people to research so they can post and look smart....doesn't matter how or why whoever answers knows what they do...point is...we can all learn from the info gathered and knowing what makes em tick is the key to keeping them healthy...so please help get this one thumping.

And for those who haven't stumbled into the new Bird forum, please share your bird photos and experience there. We had forums for exotic mammals and bugs....but somehow birds got neglected and many scientists believe that birds evolved from reptiles so maybe they belong here. The only thing left is Fish. All I know about fish is that it tastes better with tartar sauce. any input as to do we need a fish forum? or are we going too far from what this site was originally about? red tail boas? any thoughts? Please spill it.

Rav....I know the forums need a bit of rearranging...I tried...kept getting error msgs....I think natas has that locked. Maybe morti or lori can get in to it...I get the screen to do it but it just doesn't let me.

Personally I like, and welcome the changes. I like all the different forums, there's more room to talk about and leard different things. More chances to get to know fellow RTBers [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img] . -Juggalo

I say we do fish in the exotics section under Misc. Too many species to keep up with for any forum.

I have been thinking of that one for a while, especially with all the snail breeding questions being thrown at us.

Basically treat it as all fish, their pics and health. Anything that lives in the water or in a tank, fresh or salt. Mainly because a LOT of fish/aquatic posts are being made all over the place and I seriously doubt too many of us can figure out where they are parked at at this time.

My biggest fear is that in the future we may need to change the name of RTB to something like
'Redtailboa and snails and things.net/org'

My point is, I don't think we really want to get spread too thin by including so many different types of animals that we get away from what was intended by this site being built.
Some forums do belong here, like the birds, since they are believed to be closely related to reptiles, but as for most others, we have the exotics forums which includes mammals and some others. I feel that fish etc would fit nicely in ONE forum labled like this.

Misc. Exotics. - This is where ALL fish/aquatic questions, pics and general talk go. All species fresh or salt that do not fit anywhere else on this site or the exotics section should be posted here. This includes species that live in the water but aren't fish also, such as snails, crabs, lobsters, anemones etc. This section also includes housing, health, feeding, breeding, selling of aquatics. Aquatic turtles still go in the turt/tort forums please.

Heck, if this were to happen, I will personally move all the posts that are on here now to this forum, the ones that need it that is.

I agree about the fish Eddie. However, I think we should add two new forums, one for snails in general and a snail breeder exchange forum. All in favor raise you hand [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img] -Juggalo

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyy great idea...a Recipie forum...we can post our favorite ways to prepare naughty snakes for our culinary delight!

I agree with yall 100% let's keep our reptile forum's to species and clump everything else into general listing's. As eddie said we're gonna end up having to change the name. Oh and Jules let me know when that Baby Boa Back is ready!!

OK.. As for "moving" some of the forums to a different order on the site..Weeeell Sometimes the program does NOT want to cooperate with us in allowing us to move em..arghhh. That's why some of them were never moved back to the old order that they were in actually when we did the site server change over. UGH.
We also have a couple of forums that are basically redundant and will need to be combined. We'll get to this one sooner or later. Sooo for any of you admins that are willing to move a whole mess of posts from onr forum into another one. Just let me know and I'll clue ya in on which ones they are specifically actually. [ Had been going over this with some of the admins even, tossing which ones to combine and what not lately].
As for an aquatics forum... Could we please wait until some things get a bit more organized and such before adding anymore forums on the site ?? TYIA
There's also changes going to be made on mod/admin too. I recently placed a thread..or two..here in just talk asking for these people to check in and let us know they are still active on the site here. Quite a few did , but a TON of these people did not at all. AND It has also been noted by many people..admin/mod/general members that we have MANY such people that do NOT even come onto the site anymore, let alone do any of the stuff needed to be done by them. Sooo.. changes shall be made in admin/mod area of the site soon also. If you have been a member for awhile and would like to help out in mod status..please drop me a note @
LORI_SnakesRule@redtailboa.net and let me know please. We [admins] can use the help in keeping the forums going with all the post moving/editing etc that needs to be done at times. [ seems as though there are only a handful of people who actually take the task[s] to hand a lot of the time for such.
OH.. long as we're talking about admins here.....The forums have been set up [excluding admin ones] so that there is 1 admin and 1 mod on each forum. A couple of the forums have had an extra person added in the admin/mod status on the forum by an admin. These ones need to come back down to the prior mentioned, and that shall also be done as well. NOTE : There will be 3 people left on the vens forum though.
As for changing the name of the site...NOT! We can grow np , but we are known as RTB and that's where we started ya know [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] Would ya really want to change this even??? [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif[/img] I don't think Shane does and I know I wouldn't support such either.
Now ..just why do we have the morelia [ whatever it's name has been changed to now] forum when we already had a forum for such even ? That one IMO could have stayed under one forum......

So I took gtp off the tree boa/python forum and changed it to what was left..."corallus" because it was driving me nuts that gtp posts were going into both forums. I figured that was easier at this point than to delete a forum another admin made and and getting flack for doing so.

Umm.. I have no doubt of that one either Jul's. I also think it was a redundant thing to do IMO...BUT left it alone as well. MAybe like next week we can get some of the admins together in a private chat and go over some forums..ie..like which to combine and which to add etc possibly. ????

I think we should at least try to keep the subjects and topics having to do with specifically "snakes." Birds sound alright for now, but with all these snail and fish ideas floating around, that's a bit off! [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]

I can move some pretty quickly when the time comes.
The first thing we need to do is get the chat date and time set up.

We may also be able to discuss about getting the Friday night chats back in line with topics and some moderation as it may be needed from time to time.
Find out who may be able to come in and be the 'guest speaker' of the night for the specific topic at hand.
Setting the chat up on Saturday nights instead has been mentioned in the past as well, but that will take some minor discussion and prolly another post or maybe a poll to see just how many would be actually having time on which night to make it.

I think I'll get the poll set up now any ways cause it does need to get back on track soon whichever night is deemed the best for the most.

How about a week night or even Sunday? Friday and Saturday is bad for me until after 12am.
