Do you think it is worth the $295? My only issues are that it opens in the back, which is a little inconvenient. Also I would have to enclose the heat lamps in little cages so the snakes don't burn themselves. Advice please. Are those holes enough enough venting?

decent. it might be considered excessively tall...but otherwise...looks decent
id go another route personally.
edit: looks sorta like a 'lizard' enclosure.

The back looks like straight particle board which will eventually rot..The lighting needs adjusting as either it needs new fixtures or atleast some mesh guards so the snake wont get burnt. Id say go for it though.

What route would you go? Remember, it needs to look nice in my condo.

I emailed Brett on this, and he doesn't like the particle board either. He also thinks it's too tall for a boa. I think I will probably pass on it.
Thanks everyone for your helpful (and quick) advice. You guys are the best.

Personally I don't think the ventilation holes are enough, though if you get froggy you MAY be able to bore them out a little more. I could be wrong.
I agree with what Nick said about the particle board, thats probably not a good thing. You CAN treat that though.
As far as it lookin nice in your apartment I can't say. Depends on what your "theme" is. If you tend to work with alot of blacks and whites as your avatar suggests you can always paint the system. If theres alot of metal in the apartment then I'm at a loss for that.
The lighting doesn't seem good, the lamps are too low in the cage IMO, caging them off would make them even lower. I personally would look into alternate heating methods and get rid of the lamps.
Theres my advice on 2nd take. The price doesnt seem outrageous (to me).

I think a nice oak cage of that size with the lighting etc. will cost you that much, but the others have made valuable observations that may make this an impractical cage for you. You could probably make one for less than that with an oak front if you really want it. Then you would have the heating setup you want, ventilation, and front doors.

I just called the guy. He said the particle board is covered with clearcoat. He misted it down once a week for 2 years with no eroding of the clearcoat. But I don't know how well it would do being misted several times a day. I had some issues with the venting, too.

yah, there are some great companies producing quality plastic or pvc whatever enclosures. it would be unfair of me to speculate on which company is best since I havent tried any of them personally, tho. I would recommend reading old threads in the enclosure/caging forum to see what other people have bought. maybe compile a list of trusted companies and check prices on their enclosures.
OR
Homemade. Make something similar to the lizard enclosure and make it more focused on boas. It should be long and wide, but not very tall. it needs to stand up to humidity. check out the caging/enclosure forum old threads. or try the Search function for lots of threads about a specific keyword (maybe "enclosure")
good luck, I am going to be building my own enclosure for my largest boa...if I would just get off my lazy bum but the smaller snakes will be getting nice black plastic enclosures from a reputable company.

I don't ever see these anywhere and don't want to pay to have a new one shipped. Who has these? Also, how do these hold in heat compared to glass?
