I just wondered how many people here have snakes that consistently go in the water provided in the cage... We provide two water sources for this reason alone to our boa and bloods, one small dish to drink from and one large kittly liter pan full to swim in. I ask, because at first I thought that perhaps the boa was constipated, but now she goes like clockwork every weekend in the swimming pool and never anywhere else. I just found it odd and can't seem to find an explanation as to whether it's normal, or some little quirk she has in particular. The bloods hardly go more than once a month which is normal for them, the female only goes in water!!! It just bugs me I suppose, but I'm anal retentive about clean water....
Ah well...

Most likely not!
With a soak they get some water absorbed through their smelly end and when picked up they can't hold their bladders with all the extra weight of their own body preesing on it.

Ahhh never thought of that! But that's probably why it hasn't happened to me as yet, ours don't seem to soak except after lights out. The timers go off and then they go swim and do their nocturnal stuff. We keep a good sized pool in each cage for our guys to soak in, but the only ones that use it during the daytime are the bloods and they're semi-aquatic so they're using it all the time.
Smelly end *G* LOL
