did somebody steal my snake???!!
i hold amethyst once a week or once every 2 weeks. she stresses if i bother her any more then that. well i had her out less then 2 weeks ago and she was not even close to this big! did someone switch guyanas with me?
then she noticed i was taking pictures and she made a quick retreat. she hates to be bothered.
i have always fed her prey a little under girth size and i dont really bother her if she dont want to be messed with. guyanas are prone to regurg and doing it this way i have never had a problem. but if i do hold her or mess with her to much she will stop eating. so i get to hold her 15 minutes a week and that seems to work best.

Gorgeous snake. How long is she? I'm thinking maybe my Guyanan will feed better if I hold him less, too. I usually have to fight with him to get him out of the cage. I thought you were supposed to hold them every few days to keep them docile. Maybe not?

Yup, I'd definitely steal her if I saw her. Nice habitat, too. What sized tank is that and what wattage bulbs do you use to heat it?

beautiful snake and im VERY jealous of the cage.... i wonder if i can up my feeding size too. im feeding small mice to my young BP and she is wrapping and finishing in about 10 minutes. Not a sizable bulge either...i think i can step it up. congrats on the growth spurt! tells me that you are a good snake mommy (but we already knew that).

i am thinking she is 3 1/2/4 feet! her cage is a 5 foot cage. she is gonna be going in the 6 foot cage as soon as chances new cage gets here.
my BP i feed slightly over girth size.
stargrazer give it a try, hold her not to often and for not a long period of time. sticking to this amethyst never skips a meal. her bulb is 100 watt, on cold days i put another 100 watt next to it.
thanks xfactor, i try to be a good snake mommy. i really love my critters

That's so strange. My BCC is about 3 feet, but a small adult rat is still a little big for him to eat--it puts a big lump in his belly and then he won't eat again for a month. Also it takes a 150-watt bulb and an additional 75-watt bulb in winter to heat a 40 gallon tank. That's wild that you can heat a 5-foot tank with a 100 watt bulb. Is your house extra warm, or is it some kind of special glass?
I will definitely try holding him less. I thought I was helping him by holding him more!!
This post got some more wierd HML code in it--sorry!!! Hope you can read it anyway.
