Is this safe?
Ok i have these cans of paint, and i am at the paint stage of my snake cage lid, and i was wondering if this paint is safe, it says poisonous but it only says the fumes are toxic, this lid is for the snake im picking up at the expo in june, so by then all fumes will be gone, so do you think it is ok to use this

If i were you i wouldnt risk it. while the can does clearly state that the FUMES are toxic, why would you take the chance? find something non-toxic.

I really like the latex-based paint (not spray) from rust-oleum for my tinted coats and top it off with 2-3 coats of polycrylic. Obviously any paint has toxic fumes, and you want to let it air out until they are all gone, but I have found that the fumes with the latex-based paint are milder than oil based or even water based.

Go to the wal-mart craft center and get water based acrylic paints they are completely non toxic and easy to clean up I have used them for years in my iguana enclosures. I have an airbrush that i use to apply them because they are only brushable. but you can purchase cheepo airbrushes for about 10 bucks and the paints are only 44 cents a bottle. you just reduce the paints down 1:1 with water. what i do is use an old 20 oz soda bottle and pour the paint in it and then fill the bottle the paint came in with water and pour it in the coke bottle with the paint and shake for about 30 seconds and they spray good out of an airbrush then and last a long time as well and it is relatively cheep. if you dont have access to a compressor you can go to the model car section and they have cans of air that your airbrush will connect to.

if you are going to spray that on the snakes, I would definitely make sure they are dry before putting them in the cage.

Never trust anything with French writing on it!
Like Morti, I use latex-based paint.
