Why are some pet shops so stupid
My grilfriend and I have a pet shop that we stop at every 2 weeks just to look around since it's a mom and pop shop. Well, they usually have one bigger snake in the shop and they dont stay there for long. Well the last 3 or 4 times we went in, there has been this 4' RTB and every time we would see a new injury and the girl working there (that knows everything!) would make up some stupid excuse and say well that mark will go away in a shed or two. Today we went in and as soon as we saw this little girl it broke our hearts because she had what looked to be a rat bite on her nose from them feeding her live (they said it was due to sheding but when you look at the area of shed that is left, there is a big scab in the middle) Well I will end this with Pics of our new baby couldnt leave her there and if anyone knows who I would need to contact in Indiana about this pet shop please let me know, because they do not know what they are doing. I included a pick of new injury and the last then one for her beauty lol.

You could speak to the owners. Especially if it is a mom and pop type of place. Make sure you go in with quotable sources. If you don't feel you can do that, and the neglect is severe, you could call the humane society to report it. They will investigate (or refer you to the proper authorities) and probably give them a slap on the wrist and a time limit to fix the problems. If the problems are SUPER bad they will seize the animal.
I know it is heart breaking, but sometimes the best thing you can do for the animals is to NOT purchase them. Since purchasing them only puts money into the shops pockets and therefore ENCOURAGES them to get more animals in and then THEY get mistreated also.
I know it is messed up but purchasing to save them only feeds the broken machine.
That said, I AM glad she is in a good home, with folks that will take good care of her. Some of the best pets are those you ended up with to get them out of a bad situation. They are thankful of it. Just look at Chance, I know she on some level knows that Louise saved her.

The way I think of it...
You're darned if you do, darned if you don't.
You're darned if you do buy/rescue an animal from a shop because you're supporting the store, while you're darned if you don't because you have to leave the animal behind to suffer.
Just the way I've been seeing it, lately.

Great looking snake. I think both you and the snake have won. (win-win)
I am sure he thanks you for getting him out of that pet shop.
