I'm still in shock. The very day that I had my angel Maddy shipped to my house, my mom was against it. Actually, she had planned to kick me out because of it.
But now, it's not even been 2 weeks and her attitude has TOTALLY changed. Everyday, she visits Maddy's cage at least once to check on her, to see what she's doing, what she's up to, to just... stare at the cage for minutes at a time with so much interest and intrigue. Before, she wouldn't even conceive the thought of even looking at all. My mom actually wants to watch feedings. She's even offered to buy me more things for the cage now, and has no objections to me carrying my sweetie around with me in the house. It doesn't even bug her, when she would cringe before.
I'm so thankful to Maddy for obviously helping to rid my mom of such an ignorant fear. The impossible became the possible!
...Now if only I could eventually convince my mom to hold her...

Glad to hear your Mom's coming around, Shakira! My fiancé (grr- there should be a key for that é on an American standard keyboard) used to be terrified of snakes - now she's downgraded to a distinctive uneasiness. I have gotten her to decide to get a gecko, though, so it's a start! Anywho, congrats on the progress with your mom, hope it keeps up!

Hi Shakira.
Moms are very surprising people. As dificult as they might seem, they can realize when something is important to you, and can be extremely brave when required.
Don't miss the oportunity. This could be something your mom and you share and enjoy together. Let her touch the snake while you hold the head away. Slowly, she will come around to holding it. Let her participate with you on the hobbie. Before you know it, we will have two herpers logging in to RTB instead of one .
Congrats on the snake and mom.

good job now come work on my mom....I finally got her to stop killing them in her garden after 30 some odd years of begging and pleading...I gave her a snake hook to lift them over the fence and she has been doing that and calls me on a regular basis to proudly report her use of the tool. But...she will not visit my house with 50 or so snakes and various reptiles LOL.

was the same at home with my family....now, they always want to grab my boas, and not only that, they talk to them, kiss them and treat them as puppies they are all crazy...aw...my mom hates feeding time she runs away when i get home with food for my snakes, but its ok....i have always said that grabbing a boa is like making love, at first time, you will be nervous, almost scared, the you touch them and you sad...thats not so bad....thats not as i thought, and after a few times....you will want to grab the snake everytime just kidding, but my friends say im right on that
